gram vs ounce
I'm a science person, so I work exclusively in metric. On the street an ounce is well know as 28.0 grams, when in reality one ounce is 28.3495 grams.
most mass limits for the folks here is 6 ounces. 6 x 28.3495 = 170.097. On the street this is 6 oz x 28 g = 168g. This is only a difference of .3495 of a gram, which is enough to roll a nice fat joint. At 6 ounce with the true metric conversion, a gain of 2 grams are gained, about 6 fat joints.
Now I have two questions about this.
If you are stopped with 170.097g(which is an exact US ounce, actually 28.3495231g = 1 oz, so 170.097g is still under 1 oz), but you are taken in anyway because everyone has been conditioned to the 28 ounces is one gram, its not. Could a case be made in court about this.
The second questions is, should the producers of legal cannabis continue to use false measures created by street dealers or should they calculate by a real US ounceWestMesa Reviewed by WestMesa on . gram vs ounce I'm a science person, so I work exclusively in metric. Interesting take on weights-and-measures, mon, and I believe that it would stand up in court, even if no-one has done it before. You may have to bring in scientifically cite-able sources for conversions/quantities, but I can see someone's defense lawyer having a field day with this
I have always kinda looked at it as a pound being 454g, but broken down into 'eighths', racks up to 448, with the six 'missing' grams being a bonus one gets from buying mass quantities. Not that I've ever looked at it this way, myself, I mean, but I've had some interesting friends

I would have to say I would DEMAND my product be weighed using TROY ounces..now that's a couple of extra sticks per bag eh?
Street lore or not, you need a very good calibrated scale..calibrated by weights and measures to get down to this level of precision..and if LO decides to give your bag a couple of squirts with an atomizer, it's all going to be a moot point anyway.
"Your honor..at the time the evidence was weighed the relative humidity was t 92%..since it's at 58% today, the weight is no longer accurate and we ask that you go with the weight of the material when the evidence was first weighed"

Thirdly, sometimes shit is just done the way it's done because it's the way it's done and it's how it's always been done. Who's got a digi at home that measures to the millionth of a gram? Not to mention those who live by the triple beam.
I can appreciate random meaningless thought at times, but I couldn't help but but in here, so pardon me. No offense intended but I felt retarded knowing people were responding to that like it made sense and I didn't get it.

law in cal is 28.5 grams, then you get in trouble and not just a ticket. (for those without a license)
If it comes down to court. That is what they do.

I very much doubt that the law courts would be at all interested in your measurements since they would most certainly weigh it using thier own equipment.

I once got cought smoking hash and I told the police my license was at home. They let me go. I guess there is cool police and uncool ones. I have never had a prob with police in my area. I like them. I worry about people robbing my home.
Note: I do agree with you though
around here for every gram I buy the city makes a buck or two.

the math is correct, but I did write "everyone has been conditioned to the 28 ounces is one gram". Of course it should be the other way around, but anyone with some common sense would understand the error.
I am a science teacher, and my math is not retarded. Learn some tact, you could have addressed the issue with a little more maturity.

28 ounces is one gram
Next time I won't start my post welcoming you to the boards. I meant zero offense, I RARELY do. I spend most of my time helping people out here. If you are gonna be around for any time, you may want to thicken your skin a tad. It's a harsh, critical, expectation filled world outside your classroom. People can talk back to you here. Write my name on the board if you want, I was simply poking fun, one with any spine would have laughed it off and agreed, or possibly chalked it up to being stoned. Either way...
Again, welcome to the boards.

I have over 20 years in the service, got my card because of PTSD. Went to college with the VA money. Only been a teacher for 5 years.
Thick skin. You come off saying things like retarded as a derogatory term. Now if there is one thing I do know as a high school teacher, that retarded term is used on a regular basis by my 15 year old students.
So are you real young, or do you just like to communicate that way.
