I hear ya with the heat man, but after ya water, pick it up to feel how heavy it is and make sure there is a lot of drainage. Once ya get the feel for your plants after watering, you can feel when they are light, which means ''water me''. This is best IMO to not over water them. As far as the magic dust, im not sure. Ya gotta tree around dropping anything. I might look around the plant to see if its collecting on anything else. Just an idea, pic would help.
