I need good sources for a marijuana paper

Yo, I'm working on a paper about marijuana, basically the philosophical debate for why and why we shouldn't have the right to use/cultivate/possess herb. I need some sources for like how it became illegal, when it started being used, the uses of hemp (and history), and anything else you think might be useful. Though, opinions and facts are interesting on their own, I need resources that I can cite. Thanks a lot, blaze up.

There is tons of info regarding the history of marijuana. You can look online, check out some books (marijuana is safer-so why are we driving people to drink, why marijuana should be legal, smoke and mirrors, etc.) or there are some great documentaries worth watching such as "The Union - the business behind getting high, Super High Me, Hemp Revolution, Grass, etc.....

seriously just google "Marijuana History" and that should keep ya busy for awhile! :thumbsup:

yeah...thanks moody...I've been on google for awhile. I found some decent sources, but some which are slightly opinionated, and don't seem worthy of citing. I've seen all those documentaries too--good stuff. I was just trying to see if anyone knew any other sources which were harder to come by. But, until then, I'll just stick to what I've been doing. Thanks for the advice though..

"Google Scholar" will get you printed documents that have been published and more valid references that a scientific person would be more apt to listen to.

Try reading Marijuana is Safer by Mason Tvurt and co. Great read with lots of pertinent info.

NORML (Marijuana Law Reform - NORML) is a great place for reliable resources. They normally cite sources and stuff in their papers so you know where to look.

And, of course, there's Wikipedia. You might want to start off by looking at William Randolph Hearst's smear campaigns.
