Anyone a Kubrick fan in here?

Being the movie buff that I am, I love Stanley Kubrick films (Except for Eyes Wide Shut!) I just think everyone of them has something in them that just keeps you mesmerized. My favorite would HAVE to be Clockwork Orange. It is the strangest movie I have ever seen, but it also carries a lot of questions along with it in it's strange plot. 2001: A Space Odyssey is THE BEST movie to watch when you're high. The best part is when the astronaut is flying through infinity near the end of the film. If you've seen it, you know what I am talking about. It is also a movie that raises a lot of questions. What do you guys think about Kubrick's films?

You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet. - Franz Kafka.

I love Full Metal Jacket! Gotta love the drill instructor and the war scenes are great. I've only ever seen the last half of Clockwork Orange, should probs watch the whole thing sometime. EVERYONE tells me you need to see Space Odyssey high, i've got it and havn't even seen it sober yet !

Will get round to it eventually.

Everbody talks about "Clockwork Orange" and "2001" but did you know that Kubrick also directed the 1960 box office hit "Sparatcus"?

Spartacus was my favorite all around classic film of all time....

Barry Lyndon is also a good movie. It may be 3 hours long, but the visuals of classic england from the 1700's are spectacular! Also, you know its a Kubrick film from the music. Oh, BTW, I am watching Clockwork Orange as we speak...

Saw 2001 on mescaline back when it was first released; felt almost like a religeous experience; great movie. Also Clockwork Orange, under the influence of something psychedelic (I forget what), great music in that one. Came in during that scene where Alex is being presented as a model subject of the Ludovico treatment; that beautiful girl in the bikini bottom took my breath away. I just found the Dr. Strangelove video at the used bookstore in my neighborhood, $4.50, what a bargain. Watched it once and haven't seen it again since I started loaning it to various friends and co-workers. Kubrick was brilliant, in my opinion.

What's the beef with Eyes Wide Shut? I love all his movies, I think the man's a genius.

Great film maker...I had the honor to work with a cameraman named Bruce Logan, CSA, Kubrick sent out all these b team camera man around the world to shoot desert shots for 2001, he sent them to africa, california and other areas...and they all came back empty handed, he was real pissed, he hated to fly and never flew...so he had his assistant check out the local film schools for ideas....new and fresh ones..
He saw Bruce Logans film reel and flipped, He said get this guy and ask him where he shot this desert seen...Bruce at the time was only 16, and was awarded the b team shot ..he shot the bone turning into a space ship....his credit are listed...He would tell me many things about kubrick.....over a few joints....bruce was considered a boy wonder in the film world..he older now and is still shooting .
he went on to shoot TRON and many other features...I have had the honor of working with him for a long time an still remain good friends.....

    cool story, naluman

as for kubrick.. this may sound neive, but I dont think i've ever seen a Kubrick film from start to finish.. I've seen 2001 but that was when I was younger, and I don't think I watched the whole thing.. I never got to watch Full Metal Jacket or Eyes Wide Shut all the way through, and I only caught the last half of Clockwork Orange.. But I was impressed by what I saw lol

Oooops.. I was just thinking to myself "Kubrick is good, but I prefer the guy who did The Shining" so I went and found the DVD, and slapped myself lol So yeah, Kubrick is awesome, 'cause The Shining is my favouritye movie of all time! I still can't bring myself to watch it on my own when i'm stoned lol
