Ebb and Flow system

I am about to start using my ebb and flow system (flood and drain 55 Gal barrel with 12 buckets). Would it be okay to put freshly rooted clones directly into the system?

Yes! I put my bare root clones from an ez-clone directley in the hydroton. That goes the same with any rooted clone medium such as rockwool or plugs. Only thing you can't plant is soil based clones for obvious reasons

How long should I run the flood and drain each day?
Also I am using a 1000wat Metal hid daylight bulb, how far should it be from the small plants?

i flood 8 times (15minute) a day for 24/0 light schedule and 4 times (15minute)for 12/12. when you put clones under that light you will want to keep it pretty high for the first day and slowly lower it down so your leaves get acclimated from that big light. for a good height, just put your hand under the bulb and if you feel heat then your to close.
