    My Indoor set-up. Critques please!

    • 2 - 27w CFL daylight light bulbs
    • 2 - 13w? CFL Lightbulbs
    • 1 - hepa filter blowing at usually medium to slow speed.
    • 1 - DIY aluminum Reflector

hey guys, I'm new to this forum, and i'm pretty much new to growing. I was wondering if any of you guys could critique my light set up. It's set up in a cardboard box that was already in my closet. I have two Y connectors hanging from wirehangers. I've cut slits from where hepa sucks the air and blows it to a corner of the box to circulate and hopefully push it back out through the top. I've read that it's good to oscillate your fan but is it adequate enough that the fan never just blows directly at the plant but gives it an occasional breeze? I have the alumnium reflector inside surrounding around the plant.

first thing is you potted that plant way tooooo deep. your going to have no air circulation under your plant. your dirt should be atleast an inch from the top. also get rid of that ghetto tin foil! tin foil creates hotspots. best thing to use is flat paint. you probably could line it with computer paper if you dont want spend money on mylar or panda plastic.

Oh yeah that sounds good. i just couldn't find anything at ready at the moment. Could you explain or direct me to the proper way of transferring pots? this plant was given to me by my cousin. I'm still learning the basics. lol

and so you're saying i should paint the whole interior of the box? but doesn't the tin foil help prevent the cardboard from burning?

sorry about double posting but I'm sorry, I think i have placed this thread in the wrong subcategory. I believe this should be moved to Indoor/Closet growing?

transplanting is easy. let the plant dry out right before watering and get a bigger pot and fill the bottom with dirt high enough that your plants stem is going to be level with the pot. then tip your plant upside down, removed plant and place it in her new home. then fill the dirt around it. i dont like to fill the side dirt in before the plant goes in because the side dirt may fall in the hole before you properly seat you plant in there causing air pockets. then water. people use b-1 or superthrive for root shock but i never had and still do fine.

with your tin foil. is your closet painted flat white? if it is go with that and take that hobo home out. use your whole closet if you can. i did that for one grow and just used black plastic to keep the door outside light away

edit: when your putting in dirt you will want to gently press it down or after transplant/watering will push that fluffy soil down in the pot. but dont smash it down.

that's exactly what i was planning to do with some black bags. i wanted to make a curtain using strings and making a blind to block out the lights.
    thanks for the input, cig.

by the way, do you know if shifting the soil around and crumbling dry clumps beneficial?
Does this aerate the soil in any way helping the plant?

i would check the black bags before you start your 12/12 cycle. they might not be thick enough to block out all and could potentially cause hermie plants. wally world sells rolls black of 50ft 5ml plastic for about $6-8. its in the paint or arund the tool section. and your question about the clumps, dont mess with it. the only thing that will aerate the soil well is a good ratio of perlite.
