Which candidates for Governor support the Medical Cannabis Program? They get my vote
I in part have to agree w/ Slayer. Not for vietnam though. The man owns an air charter service. That tells me that he has no place for cannabis. This while he no doubt employs stoners to wrench on his planes. I believe his official stance would be a hands down no.
Domenici is just riding on his daddy's name. Pete Sr. helped a lot of people in this state and seemed to really care about the human factor.

I am giving all of the candidates a fair shot. I am not a political "party" type of person....I do not categorize myself in that manner. I will be contacting each of their offices this week to see if I can't get a response from them.
I would suggest that everyone does so as well....takes a few minutes and is something that is EXTREMELY important to all of us that are patients in the state and for those that may benefit from the program as well.
There is a quote that I am sure ALL of you are familiar with and it may apply in this situation a bit:
"The squeaky wheel gets the oil"
If I were a candidate, which I am certainly not nor would even consider, I would certainly like to know the issues that concern folks.
Now I am not saying that ANY of the candidates are in this for pure service to the citizens of this state, but if enough folks bring this matter to their attention...perhaps they MAY consider either supporting or expanding the program as it stands for the sole reason of gaining some votes.
Just a thought.....

Hi folks, Julie here from Drug Policy Alliance NM.
According to a recent New Mexico article - "All four disagree with former Republican Gov. Gary Johnson, who says marijuana should be legalized. But when asked if they would scuttle the state's medical marijuana program, which was started by Richardson, Martinez said yes, while Turner, Domenici and Arnold-Jones said no. "

I am NOT sure where Diane Denish stands on the issue. It could be worth contacting her campaign office and simply asking.
As for the current Lt. Governor candidates this is what I know:
Brian S. Colon (D) - ?
Brian K. Moore (R) - voted YES for the medical marijuana legislation in 2001, 2006, and 2007; voted NO in 2003.
Lawrence D. Rael (D) - ?
Kent L. Cravens (R) - voted YES for the legislation in 2006 and 2007 (2nd vote) as a member of the NM Senate; voted NO for the medical marijuana legislation in 2001, 2005, 2007 (1st vote)
Jose Campos - (D) - voted YES for the medical marijuana legislation as a member of the NM House of Representatives in 2006 and 2007; voted NO in 2003.
John A. Sanchez (R) - ?
Gerald Ortiz Y Pino (D) - sponsored the medical marijuana legislation in the NM Senate in 2007; voted YES every year since 2005
Linda Lopez (D) - voted YES for the medical marijuana legislation as a member of the NM Senate every year since 2001
For those candidates I don't have answers for, I encourage you to call their campaign offices and simply ask. Then post the results here!

He is a pretty right conservative, I wouldn't bet on it. For some reason, this whole so-called family values thing and staunch conservatives go together.
I really hope DC's law sets a national precedent of sorts, they're not a state.

Nobody here should cast a vote for Martinez, if she is for scuttling the NM MMJ program.

I thought the Green Party was pretty strong in New Mexico and they are pro MMJ.
