their are plenty of things you can buy to protect yourselfs.you see the new lil red fire tank you can hang in your room so if it gets above a certain degree it comes on and sprays everthing down?

I don't understand why they removed the taxes, unless it's a hope that now it will fail. I mean, I understand the whole "yay patient doesn't need to pay taxes now" but it seems like a HUGE selling point to the general public that this will generate taxes. It still will, but removing those sales taxes takes a significant chunk out of the cash flow in that direction.

The taxes thing was stricken shortly after it was passed according to this article: Medical marijuana bill passes Senate on second reading -- but obstacles remain - Denver News - The Latest Word
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of which, the last-minute flurry of activity included an amendment by Senator Josh Penry to designate medical marijuana as nontaxable at the state level. The amendment initially passed, but according to Brown, it failed in a subsequent procedure involving what's known as the Committee of the Whole, or COW in legislative parlance. In the end, he reveals, "sales taxes were repealed and then brought back half an hour later."

I'll be there, it's time to stand up for ourselves. Moments like this don't come around often.
So many of us have paid heavy heavy dues for using marijuana. Legions of good people have been arrested and have records that have/will follow their entire lives. Many of us have lost jobs or been forced to choose between a career or mj. Who among us doesn't hide our usage from family in some fashion? For how long will we continue to accept living in fear of being stigmatized, marginalized, arrested, or incarcerated?
Turbo, Your comments about the younger generations involvement are spot on. Let's hope there is a groundswell of young activism.
We as a constituency, young and old, need to quit with the Cheech and Chong bullshit and approach MMJ with a serious attitude. It's an oxymoron but we're victims of our own success. I truly believe that unless the way mmj is approached and marketed that this bill is only the beginning of the end. Please, if you care at all, show up.
If I, a 51 year old cancer ridden old fuck, can drag my ass downtown so can you. Give me a shout if you need a ride, I'd be happy to pick you up

If you feel like thanking someone who was trying her best for our cause, Sen. Morgan Carroll was the only one at the hearing today who was truly advocating for patients and introduced a slew of very progressive-minded and positive amendments (all of which were summarily shot down by the other legislators, who clearly have no clue)... You can reach her at [email protected] -- I hope anyone who is fortunate enough to be in District 29 supports her whole-heartedly, as she went to bat for us today.
I got a response back a few minutes ago after e-mailing to thank her and she was clearly feeling frustrated by the process... it's clear she cares for the cause and the patients. Hopefully her spirit will rub off on some of the others and we can get a few more sensible amendments added to this thing (or some of the ridiculous crap stricken out).
