Carbon Filter: How many CFM's ?

I'm looking for a carbon filter for my 8" inline exhaust fan which put's out 675 CFM's but I'm not sure what kind of carbon filter rating I should be looking at?

I found some priced at $150 that says 240 CFM's
    Then another set $200 for 750 CFM's

For $50.00 I'm sure the 750 CFM's is probably the way to go ? But why? Any advice would be great.

Carbon Filter: How many CFM's ?

    Whats up...

The carbon needs the right amount of time with the air to scrub it properly. The higher CFM filter is probably much bigger with more carbon to provide it enough surface area to scrub that higher amount of air.

    Or so ive read... :stoned:

m3/h is meters cubed an hour. Its another way to measure the flow of volume. Probably more popular than cfm where they use the metric system lol.

You can convert m3/h to cfm but I dont know the formula. Im sure if you google it you can find it.

Not sure about the other one... if I had to guess it might be a type or classification of the carbon? Never seen it anywhere....

usually you shop for a carbon filter first, and then couple it with a fan. most filters let you know what cfm fan you need to use with each model. with a fan cfm rating that high, you're probably looking at a pretty big filter. what you can do is find the filter that works for your grow space, and then get yourself a solid state speed control and dial down the fan.

This is my first attempt so I'm sure that I will end up doing somethings ass backwards! The area I am venting out is only going to end up being around 200 cubic feet but odor control is a big big thing for me. I plan on running the duct work up into my attic and having attached to my stink pipe up and out to the highest point of the house. It's going to be going through about 40 feet of ducting so that's why I went with more CFM's. Yeah I figured I would be looking at a big filter but that's okay I want no odor. The inline fan I purchased does have a speed control built into it  So basically what I am gathering here is the bigger/more/expensive filter is the way to go no short stepping this one ?

a built in speed control? what a great idea! i like to keep the odor to a minimum too. i've found that the filter doesn't need to be on all the time, so i have it plugged into a repeat cycle timer, works well.

Carbon Filter: How many CFM's ?

It's been awhile since I posted on this forum but it has to do with a Carbon Filter so I thought I'd use the same post. I just got my carbon filter in the mail today... I ordered it from ebay.

IT'S FREAKING HUGE! I'm 6'1 and it comes up to my waist almost.
I ordered a 8" carbon filter but did not think it'd be this big.

Never had a C.F. b4 so I don't know if this is normal or if some Ebay guy just got one over on me?
