First time grower with a N00b question

    Hi all,
I really wish I had found this place before i got started, but oh well. Our first babies are strong and 3" tall (mostly) and may be ready to transplant in a week or so.

If this is not the best forum for this question let me know. I tried to search the forums on this and found nothing.

I am starting my first grow and have decided on Arjan's Ultra Haze #2 and The Church from Greenhouse Seeds. I understand that flowering to strains in the same room is a giant Bozo no-no, but are there any issues with them being in the same set up for the vegetative state?

The main reason for this question is that The Church has a 8-9 week cycle (4 week vegetative and 4 weeks flowering) indoors and the Haze is much slower about 12-13 week cycle (6 weeks in vegetative and 6 weeks in flowering).

I am going to plant 6 Haze and 1 Church for this first grow and would love to at least be able to veg them in the same room.

    Additional system info if needed:
All seeds are feminized. I will be using an Ebb & Gro system. 1)1000 watt Hortilux Enhanced Spectrum super blue Super HDS and Metal Halide grow lamp. (this is a combo lamp) This is set up in my basement in a 7' x 7' area that is tented in the white/black plastic. Air movement is not a major issue.

Ok I used your church link just to make sure I wasn't gonna put my foot in my mouth and I won't, ........... your cycle times are flowering times. Go back to your seed link and it says "flowering time 9 weeks" that means it is reccomended with that strain in perfect conditions you should flower the plant for 9 weeks. You might have to add a week or take one away to fit your growing setup. You can pretty much veg forever it is the flowering time posted at seed sites.

    Tinytoon,
Thanks for the correction on that I should have used this link instead: Green House Strains Statistics - Green House Seed Co. Amsterdam Creators of Champions Since 1985 - Design by 2IFX.com .

It seems to show that the Church has a 8-9 week cycle for harvest. I must admit to a bit of confusion as it shows a 8-9 week harvest time. I'll get that figured out.

The question remains regarding two strains in veg at the same time. Should I or shouldn't I? If I can veg them at the same time I can set up a smaller flowering room for 1 plant no biggie.

Thanks again for the info, like I said I'm a mega N00b with this and look forward to bugging you vets for a while, at least until I can answer the a Noob question on my own for someone else

    Happy growin

Tinytoon is right. They are 8 - 9 weeks of flower time. When they talk harvest they only mean flowering time. You can put as much or as little time in veg as you like to fit your room or outside.

We are veging at the monent, Papaya, Skunk and S.A.G.E. and Northernlights.
They all do very well vegging together.

They do not all do well together in flower. The skunk and the northerlights do well together and the Papaya and sage do well together in flower.

Not the best idea to flower more than one strain at a time but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Harvest depends most on the trichome color. Your mileage may vary.

    Thanks Loc,
I thought that it would work but needed verification. Will plan on a dual vegging application.

As I understand it, and I failed biology in High School, flowering together can/should/will create hybrids and I do NOT want to do that so separate rooms for that stage is a must for me, unless I am wrong on this.

I will try to upload pics as this progresses, but I do have to worry about the man

Have a great day all and any and all help is appreciated.

    Whats up Buz?

LOC and tiny know what they are talking about. Every seed place ive seen only lists the time it takes to flower. Veg time is all up to you!

Flowering in the same room will not cause hybrids. If you were flowering male plants then yes but you said they were fem so that wont be an issue unless you get a hermie. But sometimes hermies can be good.

People have problems with multiple strains in one flower room because of strain specific needs like nute ppm,ph,watering, and temperature. It basically creates more work mixing different nute levels for different strains and trying to maintain the environment at an optimum level for all of them.

I dont know much but I hope I could help!

Yes indeed GTOD that explains a few things I have been told/overheard over the years. I'm still learning a lot every from reading and searching the forums.

    Thanks all,
After a bit more research on this I have decided to attempt to do a dual grow. Yippee.
I will do my best to post a follow up in the coming weeks on the progress of this venture (fiasco maybe :jointsmile, although good advice from the FAQ and others is a wealth of information.
I am seriously considering growing more of The Church as I hear great things about it.
Thanks again and keep on keepin' on,
    Buz
