Yea! A win for our side.

The Honorable Senator Morgan Carroll, Chairwoman of the Senate Judiciary cast the tie breaking vote.

Let's all send her thank you emails.

who all voted to kill? they should all be thanked.

after this session is over, I think we'll need a web based scorecard for how our various reps voted at various stages in this.

Journal of the Senate will be published tomorrow and more details, voting records, will be available for today's committee vote.

    FOR THE SCORE CARD

The first vote on HB 10-1284 was taken by the House Judiciary Committee on March 22. We don't like those who voted Yes.

(Note: This was a party line vote. All Dems voted Yes, but Reps voted No because they don't support enabling dispensaries - a pox on all of them.)

Lois Court, Dem., Central Denver - Yes

Bob Gardner, Rep. El Paso County - No

Daniel Kagan, Dem. South Denver - Yes

Steven King, Rep. Sioux City - No

Joe Miklosi, Dem. S.E. Denver - Yes

Betty Nikkel, Rep. Larimer County- No

Sal Pace, Dem. Pueblo - Yes

Su Ryden, Dem. Aurora - Yes

Mark Waller, Rep. Colorado Springs - No

Vice Chair, Beth McCann, Dem. Central Denver - Yes

Chairwoman, Claire Levy, Dem. E. Boulder - Yes
A special word of contempt for Levy. Besides being the most influential member of the most influential committee on this issue -- she placed last minute amendments on 4/20 before the floor vote, which were obvious designed to restrain trade, i.e.; edibles can't be made from mmj obtained from two dispensaries. If anyone looks like they're in a lobbyists pocket, she's the most obvious to me.

LAST CHANCE on HB 10-1284 - SEND EMAILS TO ALL SENATORS

    More to come.

It seems Levy had second thoughts after it came out of committee and voted no on the floor, which I feel came from pressure from us. Here is her email.
    Mark,

I did vote no after thinking over the total effect of the bill. The bill passed by a wide margin and will be heard in the Senate Committee on Local Government (a strange place to send the bill, if you ask me).

I appreciate the professionalism of those who provided input. I certainly learned a lot. One reason I voted ??no? is that I realized I didn??t yet know enough to be able to say HB1284 is the best way to implement the intent of Amendment 20.

Why did Rep. Levy introduce a blatantly offensive amendment, one clearly designed to restrain trade and cause harm to the sick and then vote against it to days later? It doesn't pass the smell test.

Where do these laws specify if you have to be a patient to be a caregiver? Because the way it reads anybody can be a caregiver, but the dispenary places tell me you have to be a patient. A friend of mines wife is a patient, but her husband is listed as her caregiver on her card...he isnt a patient...?!WHos full of it?
