If a plant is almost done flowering in Miracle Grow soil ( the kind with the little plant food beads) how am i to properly flush it before harvesting?

I'm under the impression that as long as I throw water in the soil it's still feeding the plant, correct? So what would be the best method when in this situation? thanx
