Bipolar Disorder
Um, weed is medicine. I'll bet Larry self medicates quite a bit. Take away Larry's stash and all his other rec. drugs and watch him spin into mental hell, guaranteed!
Not exacty a quick reply......
Mental disorders are mostly chemical imbalances or misfunctioning in the brain, the largest organ aside from our skin. Just because we are in the year 2005 and still don't know much about the brain doesnt mean we should fear it, or make fun of the symptoms. Brain problems are like heart, kidney or any other problems and should be respected as such. You don't make fun of people with heart conditions do you?Ignorant, uneducated people like Larry are the ones that create shame and fear for people who have mental problems (it's not their fault their brains are not working and the problem manifests itself into physical behavioral problems). The unknown is what people fear so they make fun instead to cope. Usually those people with the loudest objections are the ones that really need to be looked at for problems of their own.
Most bipolars (myself included) are extremely bright, creative types who have self medicated with weed and other drugs for years to help them. I've been on Lithium, Depakote, welbutrin, and a few others. I don't think weed ever did harm to my case. After years of being on Rx meds for bipolar II I was in a bad accident and crushed my spinal cord resulting in chronic debilitating pain. Pain management for years after that and through it I found my solution. After being on all kinds of opiates I was put on methadone. Yes, I know they use it to detox herion addicts and that's given it a bad name which is too bad because it is an excellent drug with little abuse problems. Anyways, don't knock it, it was developed by Hitler in the war years as a sub. for morphine cause they did not have enough to treat the war wounded for their pain, it's other name is Dolophine which was named after Hitler (Aldolf Hitler, he thought so much of it he wanted it named after him, adolophine as it was called in the 40's), it is the best pain management drug ever, way better than oxycontin (which is hard to control cause you have to keep taking more every week to deal with the same pain).
I no longer take any meds for bipolar (besides a bit of fine smoke) because I have found that the pain managment aspect to methadone is great, but it had a side benefit, that it also seems to be great for moderating mood stability. 2 years and I am better than ever. They used to Rx narcotics to patients with depression back in the 1800's and early 1900's due to it's link with seratonin. Personally I think it's the best kept secret in bipolar treatment. No more drug for mania, drug for depression, drug for anxiety, drug for sleep.
So I smoke plenty of weed and I have no problems with side effects.rinconmann Reviewed by rinconmann on . Bipolar Disorder I am 24 and have recently been diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder and had been a daily smoker up until the onset of my first bought of mnia. Now I am reluctant to smoke bud in fear that it will cause me to have a manic or depressive episode. Is there anyone out there who has used bud successfully? Please elaborate and share any studies that you may have come across. Rating: 5
