I cannot tell you about smell but I can tell you that you will definatley notice the sound of a setup like this coming from your closet. mine is the garage and that makes the perfect place for it. it sound like one of these fans.

I have to leave the door to my closet open though or it gets too hot in there. I plan on using my carbon filter/fan as the cooling system as well. With that blowing out of the top vent I should be able to keep the tent cool by the air that will be drawn in by the bottom vents.
