Carbon Filter Question

I have been going over information for weeks now on how to attack my odor problem. I have a 2x4x5ft grow tent in my closet. I have to leave the door to my closet open though or it gets too hot in there. I plan on using my carbon filter/fan as the cooling system as well. With that blowing out of the top vent I should be able to keep the tent cool by the air that will be drawn in by the bottom vents. The problem is that by leaving my closet door open the smell of pot spreads all over my apartment, so I need a filter that is good enough to totally scrubb out the odor.
I have been looking at Can filters since they seem to be the best. I want a 4" filter. I don't think I need anything bigger than that. There are two different models of 4" filters that I've come across. The 9000 and 2600 models. Is there really much difference between the two and which one would you buy?
I have also looked at the Can fans. Do you have to get one of those or will any other 4" filter fan work? Also, noise is a very serious concern for me since I will have my closet door open. Are any of these fans quieter than another and how much noise do they actually make?
And finally, would a cheaper setup like this one be comparable to a Can filter or will it not work nearly as well 4 inch CARBON FILTER FAN COMBO inline odor scrubber can - eBay (item 120517055182 end time May-12-10 10:06:34 PDT)
I'd really appreciate any help or experience anybody can offer on this topic.

I run the Phat filter 4" model IGSPF124 paired with Active Air in-line duct fan
4" model ACDF4.

I cannot tell you about smell but I can tell you that you will definatley notice the sound of a setup like this coming from your closet. mine is the garage and that makes the perfect place for it. it sound like one of these fans.
