First Season bagseed grow questions
I have a few questions about growing my outdoor bagseed plants. They are my first grow and i have some doubts and some questions. First ill let you know a bit about what im starting with (which isnt much)
I germinated about 14 seeds (not sure) and i had to leave town so they germinated for 7 days. Quite a few of the seedlings shed their seeds casing before i even planted them exposing what i think is the cotyledon. I planted them all on 4/20 (burying the cotyledon about a half inch or more) and all of the healthy looking seeds are already spouting 2 little baby leaves.
Heres the questions part:
I planted them in the blackest soil i could find in the area because i didnt have the ability to find potting soil. What is the probability of my plants doing well? Or even surviving?
The soil becomes sort of hard especially after I water, but i keep rolling the cups in my hands to break it up. How bad is it to have hard soil?
Ive been using a pond close to my spot to water. The water is a typical Florida pond: Greenish water with a little algae (avoidable) that i wouldn't drink if someone paid me 50 bucks. Is this unhealthy for the plant?
Any creative advice for animal protection?nineteen60nine Reviewed by nineteen60nine on . First Season bagseed grow questions I have a few questions about growing my outdoor bagseed plants. what kind of fencing did you use exactly? I have been thinking about ways to prevent the bastard animals because i actually have 3 buddies that told me there plants were eaten.
Ive been thinking of finding a way to hang it in a tree. maybe balanced on 3 strings or wires, so its balanced. Then get it down with a hook shaped stick? i know it seems accident prone (not to mention a complete pain in the ass), but i have quite a few plants and im pretty creative making practical rigs. Couldnt hurt to try it on one. I have a feeling it would be squirrel food though.
any other creative ideas?
has anyone ever had a plant that survived without nutrients in forest soil? and could i possibly dissolve nutrients into water instead of mixing them with soil and dealing with a whole transplant?

First Season bagseed grow questions
im going to bury sticks sticking out of the ground in a triangle around the plant and wrap fishing line around the triangle. Not only will it protect from small animals, most animals cant stand the smell. Ill coat them in something bitter tasting just in case.
as for the plant update, one of them is looking quite deformed with one of the leaves looking gray and crippled. the others are abou an inch tall with rich color and four baby leaves.
If the stalk has a bit of red on it in the early stages does it mean the plants are nutrient deficient?

i was actually considering this option before with the 2 liter bottles but i chose to go with a more permanent option. After putting the fishing line rig up, i decided it would be well worth it to invest in some chicken wire of something.
The fishing line rig can be done well enough to protect plants from small animals, but damn is it a pain in the ass (atleast to get the job done WELL)
I was left with two healthy looking plants, one turned over which lead to the plant stem turning sideways to find the sun (fucking awesome). This was wierd because the cup was burried. Two more seedlings in today hoping to germ more from a really good soil grown sac. (mids) turned the tipped one over cup back up straight and tied it loosely with a stick for the time being. My plants still only have 4 leaves but they are getting taller and more distinguished.
