i dont think 2.5 feet worth of vertical space will be enough to flower a plant unless its a lowryder or something. you might have to finish them outside.

What I did last spring was veg a couple plants under flouros for about 3 weeks then planted them outside in early may. the one female grew to over 7.5 feet tall, but the frost came a bit early in vermont so i had to chop it before it was done flowering. I strongly suggest this method because there is a minimal amount of work and if you tend to the plant and feed it good nutrients, etc, you'll still get some good buds.

true, those are the risks of outdoor grows. just plant them in a spot where they get about 5 hours of direct morning sunlight, then indirect sunlight in the afternoon when it is hottest. obviously you cant control heavy rains but lack of rain is easily remedied. just water them every 4 days or so that there isnt any rain. another important element of outdoor growing is pest control - chicken wire or human hair/urine to keep away deer and bunny wabbits, plus weekly sprayings of neem oil to keep the bugs away.

2.5 feet is more than enough height, so long as you have a foot or two width. LST, supercrop or do a scrog. You can get crazy production out of that space if you are willing to do the work. If not, throw them outside and hope for the best.
