    A female SPROUT?

I planted a few seedlings of bagseed to transfer outdoors when the weather's nice. Many have sprouted in the good soil I'm using, and they're getting natural sunlight on my windowsill- the south side of the house. All are developing well, with the exception of one lone sprout. She doesn't even have true leaves yet, just cotyledons, but she's showing a female calyx already. I've had enough experience with determining male from female, as well as extensive biological/botany experience; has anyone seen anything like this before?

Vegetative growth and flowering are divided by the amount of sunlight each plant receives in a 24 hour period; if it were an issue with sunlight exposure, none of my plants would be in vegetative at all. Maybe it's just a fluke.

I've planted a lot of seeds and I have never seen anything like that. Wild Assed Guess, is genetic mistake in that particular seed. Thanks for putting that up. Would have never believed it until I saw it.

Yeah, I'm around plants all day- I'm a botanist- so I didn't believe it at first! Maybe the vegetative cycle will start to kick in, so at least I KNOW I've got a female

I wouldn't hold your breath for it to kick into vege. I would certainly keep it alive and kicking just to see what happens. You may have just took the world record for the smallest mature plant ever grown. I'm intrested. Let us know what happens with your tiny girl.

Will do! The brown pigmentation and the curling of the cotyledons might show she's not going to make it much longer, but we'll see.

I don't often say this, but OMG that was funny! :S2:

I say put into 12/12 today. Lets see what you get from the first female sprout.

    That's a strange looking stem, too. I wouldn't use clear containers....roots don't like light.
