The Federal Reserve
I'd disagree with the idea of cancelling all your bank accounts and only dealing in cash. That's pretty impractical for most people. The fact is that we're a digital economy now and can't really get off the grid quite as easy as that.
Aaron Russo did a pretty good film about the Fed. One of my favorite lines form the movie is that 'the Federal Reserve is no more a legitimate function of the government than Federal Express'.
Anyone wanting to know a bit more about how effed up the Fed and our current regime of bankers is should read Greenspan's book, The Age of Turbulence. For someone who once hung out with Ayn Rand, he should be ashamed of himself, not to mention strung up by his thumbs with piano wire.
