First time grow, help appreciated.
It can be easy if you get really lucky, but most of the time you will have multiple problems. as far as the 1 out of 5 thing, your probly right but if you end up only having one plant left and its a male then your screwed, even if you have a female but you didnt keep up the plant well then youll get a shitty yeild. i dont know anything about where you live or the lowryder strain but not just ANY strain will grow ANYwhere. its best to find out what strains grow well in your area first. For example, its really difficult to grow sativa outdoors in the southeastern US because of the humidity, so put a lot of thought into the strain you use.
If you can do indoor, thats really useful because you can flower early by switching the lights to 12/12 from 18/6 so you can remove the males early and put out 5 females (which should be at least a couple pounds). you could probably preflower in 2 months or so indoors. i personally just germinate the seed and put em straight in the ground because when you take them from inside to out it can shock them pretty bad. but if you just wanna start them in and put em out they should be like 2-3 weeks before you transplant.
1,2. Germinate in a wet paper towel until the root pops out then put them about 1/2 inch in the soil (do not touch root with your hands, use tweezers) and then put them on 18 hours of light. keep em on 18 for a few weeks before you put em out.
3. you should put them straight in the ground but mound the dirt up around the plant so they dont drown in heavy rain. look up transplanting techniques
4. water every 2-3 days if you can at the beginning. once they get big i do 1/4-1/2 gallon once a week. the rule is if the soil is fairly moist a inch or two down then your good.
-pesticide is good but get something made for edible plants like potatoes, that way you know the chemicals arent too toxic.
-fertilizer- vegatative stage- 20-10-10 (NPK) flowering stage- 10-20-15 (use less than half recommended dose- water soluble) then a month before harvest, water like hell to flush the chemicals out of the soil
-put some stakes in around your plot and fence by wrapping with fishing line to keep wildlife from eating it, cause they will.
-No disrespect, but if you want good plants you should read up on outdoor growing, especially if youve never grown anything. i mean, youll be okay either way, but the more you know the better your plants will be.
if you can, do organic. its tastes and smokes way better. post if you got any other ?s
