First time grow, help appreciated.
Evening to all the Irish tokers. Thinking of doing a first grow this year. I have opted for Lowryder #2 and it will have to be a guerilla grow. I'm living in the south of Ireland. Have any of you any tips for this strain under these conditions? I have heard various disaster reports but at the same time I have heard people say to me ... look ... at the end of the day it's a plant and it will grow.
Right, so some newbish questions :
1. For how long should I keep them germinating indoors? And how much sunlight a day should I give them during this stage?
2. Strange ... I know ... but how far deep into the soil should I actually put these seeds? I have never gardened in my life heh.
3. Should I, when planting outdoors, plant them in their pots or actually dig them into the ground itself?
4. How often should I water them, if necessary?
5. What other simple measures should I take to prevent ... say ... bug infestation? I'm planting five. Surely the crop getting ruined would simply be too unlucky to happen five times over?
As this is my first grow, I'm just looking for a modest success. My funding is pretty much nil and I don't expect huge yields. As long as some smokeable bud comes off those plants, I will be a happy man.

First time grow, help appreciated.
It can be easy if you get really lucky, but most of the time you will have multiple problems. as far as the 1 out of 5 thing, your probly right but if you end up only having one plant left and its a male then your screwed, even if you have a female but you didnt keep up the plant well then youll get a shitty yeild. i dont know anything about where you live or the lowryder strain but not just ANY strain will grow ANYwhere. its best to find out what strains grow well in your area first. For example, its really difficult to grow sativa outdoors in the southeastern US because of the humidity, so put a lot of thought into the strain you use.
If you can do indoor, thats really useful because you can flower early by switching the lights to 12/12 from 18/6 so you can remove the males early and put out 5 females (which should be at least a couple pounds). you could probably preflower in 2 months or so indoors. i personally just germinate the seed and put em straight in the ground because when you take them from inside to out it can shock them pretty bad. but if you just wanna start them in and put em out they should be like 2-3 weeks before you transplant.
1,2. Germinate in a wet paper towel until the root pops out then put them about 1/2 inch in the soil (do not touch root with your hands, use tweezers) and then put them on 18 hours of light. keep em on 18 for a few weeks before you put em out.
3. you should put them straight in the ground but mound the dirt up around the plant so they dont drown in heavy rain. look up transplanting techniques
4. water every 2-3 days if you can at the beginning. once they get big i do 1/4-1/2 gallon once a week. the rule is if the soil is fairly moist a inch or two down then your good.
-pesticide is good but get something made for edible plants like potatoes, that way you know the chemicals arent too toxic.
-fertilizer- vegatative stage- 20-10-10 (NPK) flowering stage- 10-20-15 (use less than half recommended dose- water soluble) then a month before harvest, water like hell to flush the chemicals out of the soil
-put some stakes in around your plot and fence by wrapping with fishing line to keep wildlife from eating it, cause they will.
-No disrespect, but if you want good plants you should read up on outdoor growing, especially if youve never grown anything. i mean, youll be okay either way, but the more you know the better your plants will be.
if you can, do organic. its tastes and smokes way better. post if you got any other ?s

I have opted for Lowryder #2 and it will have . Have any of you any tips for this strain under these conditions? I have heard various disaster reports but at the same time I have heard people say to me ... look ... at the end of the day it's a plant and it will grow.
Arse every1 has one same as opinons, right with these lowryders you could put them under 24hour light they will go through their cycle anyway.
you will need a few bits and bobs aldi lidi and homebase new cheap stop shops.
keep an eye out in the lidi and aldi for their garden stuff i got a ph meter of them for under a tenner well worth it. Homebase right now have large heated propagtors on sale right now for 25euro which where 60euro. lowryders need the soil to be warm aswell. well on the 21st of june longest day of the year we get 20.5 hours. they say 60 days for lowryders but i find that about 90 days is better. and as far as ppl telling you its a plant it will grow yes they are right but the more you put into it the better of ya are, bigger buds, nice smoke or small buds and a harsh dry smoke
1. For how long should I keep them germinating indoors? And how much sunlight a day should I give them during this stage?
germinate in between two saucers with wet loo roll paper with the seeds in it.
after 2 days they should of split open (keep it damp not soaking wet) some will take longer. let them grow to about quarter to half inch long.
2. Strange ... I know ... but how far deep into the soil should I actually put these seeds? I have never gardened in my life heh.
once they have grown put them in some peat pots small ones then put the root in and leave the seed head just above the soil. be carefull very easy to break. keep the pots damp dont let them dry out and keep adding water to the base of the pots it will pull the water up and ur plants will grow good roots. when the roots break though the sides of the pots transplant to the bigger pot.
3. Should I, when planting outdoors, plant them in their pots or actually dig them into the ground itself?
well if ur going to put them in the ground go prepare the ground now. Or dig holes and put the pot in the ground. and if ya leave the pots above ground add some water storage gel or flakes for hanging baskets(in the 2euro shop) in ur soil mix for the large pots.
4. How often should I water them, if necessary?
only when dry if ya look out and everything is dead then ya left it to late the plants their roots need to breathe
5. What other simple measures should I take to prevent ... say ... bug infestation? I'm planting five. Surely the crop getting ruined would simply be too unlucky to happen five times over?
well with the bugs can deal with it as it happens but with any bug their is another that eats it
sorry no pic cant get the camera to work
good luck with ur grow and post up pic and we could give ya a helping hand.
anything else just ask
plus when ya have ur own at the end you will NEVER BUY AGAIN so much better
