Mycorrhizae-infused potting soil

I recently started using a new organic potting soil to start my babies indoors first, and I came across a bagged soil with a bunch of mycorrhizal cultures in the bag. My seedlings SHOT up- this was 3+ year old bagseed I had laying around- and germinated 3 days after planting!

For those who don't know about the wonderful symbiotic relationship between mycorrhizal fungi and plants, it's basically a type of fungus that embeds itself inside of a plant and around the root structures. The root-like mycelium of the fungus extends and reaches very far underground to pull in moisture and nutrients to the plant- somewhere around 90% of all plants on Earth have mycorrhizae. I figured it'd be a good investment, and so far it's looking good

Anyone else use/heard of mycorrhizae in potting soil?

yep, it's good stuff. Most soils bought at a hydro store have it added already....I used to use happy frog and I loved the stuff....about the same price as miracle grow but MUCH MUCh MUCH better! :jointsmile:

The mycorrhizae in the soil will attach to the roots and will help the plants grow better throughout their life. It is really to start your plants in soil that has mycorrhizae in the soil from the very start. If you start palnts in soil that does not have mycorrhizae they will never catch with ones that did.
