Yea you can leave the lights on 24/7 to help prevent stretching and such, though you should give the plants some nighttime rest.

Light question
Hi all,
Question about lighting:
Are more lumens better than light temperature (Kelvin)?
I have 2 CFL's and one has a lumen output of 2700, but I don't know what the temperature of the light is.
The other CFL is a "daylight" bulb at 6500K, but puts out only 1600 lumens.
I'm not sure which is better.
I have one, tiny, baby plant and the cotyldons yellowed and fell off, but the two first 'real' leaves are growing, small, but growing. I noticed the tips of the quarter inch long leaves are slightly yellowing and while I'm trying to figure out which of the possible problems, might be the cause, I got to wondering about the light situation.
I have a 150W HSP, but I'm not sure if it's time to use that or not.
First-timer and struggling.
Thanks in advance!

Just read another thread and low stress with seedlings is the key to keeping the females you do have. I'd cut back on the light 2 hours a day until 16/8 and let them get established. then add 2 hours a day until 24/0 to really push, or 20/4 if a sensitive strain.

"Are more lumens better than light temperature (Kelvin)?"
Plants do not care about lumens - lumens as stated for lights is purely for human vision and nothing else, and since human vision is most sensitive to green light (which plants do not generally use in any significant amount) the lumen is weighted by that range, typically at 550-555nm.
Use the CFLs until you're ready to bud then add the HPS as a budding supplement.
