As with most carbo-load products which are usually cane sugar or sugar beet extracts...it's way overpriced. (using AN products is an expensive addiction) I've used unsulfered molasses for the past year with great results, and it provides all the calcium, magnesium, iron and carbs a plant could ever need. In other words...molasses replaces CalMag Plus and Bud Candy...at a fraction of the costs.

The old formula had molasses in it, the new one doesn't.

Bud Candy is one of the best products AN has. And I don't know anything about it having molasses in it before, but if they took it out, that's a good thing, isn't it?
Molasses is a crappy way to sweeten up your grow. I've heard too many bad things about molasses and it making grows be a waste. It seems like grows are just doomed to fail - or maybe folks just don't know how to use it. I know I don't. But then again, I figure using products made for MJ growing make the most sense.
I'll leave the molasses for Christmas cookies. Of course, I'm not sure which one is yummier. My grow or cookies. Mmm. Maybe I need both......:hippy:

wow ive heard the exact opposite with molasses and had used it in the past with great results! molasses has more micro nutes than an bud candy. bud candy is mainly designed for hydro grows. dont bad mouth products if you only heard about it and didnt try it. it is really good for soil. im testing right now in my hydro for 2 weeks flowering and is working out great. i do 2 tbls fr 25gallons.

I also wanted to try some carb product but the prices led me to molasses. Works great so far. I used 1tsp per gallon of clean water every other clean watering lol... does that make sense?
water/nutes/water+mol/nutes/water and so on!.

I don't know all the good/bad rep of molasses but I can sure tell you that it works great for me in soil/soilless. For hydro I would be afraid of algae/slime.

That is because it is molasses that is more expensive than molasses.

Molasses works just fine for me... I think the failures come from over doing it...
