These guys have to be some of the biggest rip-offs ever. I received a possesion of up to 35 grams of mj and failure to move left for a stationary vehicle with red and blue lights. I know,im a fool for having it on me and I regret it. I've called about over half of the list of lawyers on the NORML site and they've all said it will be 2500-3500 minimum just for the lawyer themself. Im thinking those prices are bullshit,as i've had friends with weed charges who paid around 900$ total in costs.
This is my first possesion on my record, I had a ticket in 08 for expired plates, and later that summer a friend had got us all arrested and they charged me with MIP by consumption with .002 BAC (only reason i scored was due to mass amounts of mouth wash for my less than 24 hour old tongue piercing) but it was dropped to a 200$ littering charge. Im not sure what to do as I've never had to goto court before and the court is a 2 nd a half hour drive away. Would it be best to go and represent myself,or get a lawyer to take care of it?RideTheWave Reviewed by RideTheWave on . Missouri NORML These guys have to be some of the biggest rip-offs ever. lawyers all charge different rates some might say 20 grand to look at your case...some law offices do things to cater to ppl on a budget some dont .
Find one that fits your budget...
Don't take or seek any legal advice from ANYONE other than a lawyer.
Get a consultation(often free, and possibly over the phone) with one or two or three of them...
btw. if you have a friend who had a good experience with a certain lawyer. There is no better testimonial than one from a trusted friend.

NORML is nothing but a rip off. I would recommend pleading not guilty and have an attorney appointed to you for now and ask him some of your options.
It depends on which state you're in whether its worth fighting. If its just a misdemmeanor pay the fine and chalk it up to a learning experience.

Hah, my boss hooked it up. I've got a very good lawyer,he's AV rated and specializes in nothing but criminal defense. He says we can possibly get my pot charge thrown out due to the fact he took my license, insurance and told my friend to get out of the car for no reason, told me to put my hands on my wheel. We had not been smoking any weed driving home and i've never smoked in my car. He put his hands in my friends pockets searching him and put him in the front of his car, then pulled me out and searched me then waited for another car to search my car. He barely looked around the car, only in the front seat for 30 seconds and then slapped me with the 2 tickets,my friend with 1. sucky part was we got pulled over at 2:33am...we didnt get to leave till 4:00am,but thankfully neither one of us was arrested.
