Two Questions, some answers?
1. What are HPS lights REALLY used for, i don't have a credit card...and don't want one...and i don't put my money in banks. fuck, that!
sooo...a local electric store has a nice ballast...that holds both hps and mh.
the bulbs i can get at lowes, both 400 wats.
so, what do I tell them I need it for?...i don't wish to share my business with them.
2. at the moment, I have a CFL light from petco that is 65 K. Two bulbs, 6500 K blue acetinic light...and a 65 w cfl..just regular...in it...and it's a 109 dollar light, it was being sold off from the store, so they lowered it to 9.99 hahahaha. steal of a deal...good light or what?, I heard the 6500 K spectrum blue light is amazing for vegetative, but should I continue to use it through flowering?...it's a pretty sweet light, i mean, it grows corral for fucks sake...and comes already in the light holder, with a piece of plexi glass that slides in between the lights and the bottom...completely cased in, except for the bottom...pretty sweet.
but I also have like 8 other 26 watt flouros on them too from each side, it's bombarded by light...so i guess i was just wondering if the light ^ above is suitable for my 3 plant indoor grow op.?

Two Questions, some answers?
P.S. I know i'm asking questions about the light. But I SERIOUSLY recommend it to anyone during the vegetative stage.
The 65 w regular cfl is said to put out the same spectrum as the mid day sun....and the blue acetinic bulb is in the 6500 K spectrum.
and at 3 inches, this light has produced VERY HEALTHY GREEN LEAVES WITH NO CURLING UNDER OR OVER...and with the proper conditions and set up has made my seedlings flourish...3 days in and one of my seedlings has already sprouted out 2 sets of leaves aside from the cotyledons..and i don't just mean 2 sets, they are BIG, HEALTHY sets...in 3 days...I love this light. I just wanted some thoughts and feedback on it. 109.00 dollar light for 9.99.
Idk, maybe it's cause it's combined with a total of 8 other CFL's coating every inch of the plants from 3 inches away.
but i can't wait to see the results, I will post pictures soon of both the light and my setup in the grow log area.[align=center][COLOR=\"SandyBrown\"]Music is everybody\'s possession.

Two Questions, some answers?
HPS are used for Street lights and lights in a parks outside somewhere; this is why when you look at the street lights(at least in my area) they are a yellow/ amber colour.
HPS are best for flowering, yes you can use the one at Home Depot or Lowes but if you get one from a Hydroponics store is will be specifly made for growing plants. Better choice.
MH are used for lighting up billboards at the side of highways or inside big buildings were they need lots of light. My gym uses MH bulbs. They produce a very white light.
MH are best for Vegging, yes you can use the one at Home Depot or Lowes but if you get one from a Hydroponics store is will be specifly made for growing plants. Better choice.
Most HPS and MH bulbs use Mogal sockets which i have yet to find at lowes or HD. Need to go and by this from an electronic store or your local hydro shop.
I doubt anyone will ask you what you are using this for. If anyone does ask just get creative. Dont freeze up like your doing something wrong.
not to sure about #2.
cheers,
MJ

I think you'll be fine vegging under your current set-up, as long as the plants don't get to big.
The growing conditions for tomatoes is very simular to growing cannabis, if anyone asks say you want to add supplemental lighting to your tomatoe grow.
For flowering you should purchase a HPS and use your floro's for side lighting.
You will get amazing crystal production from using a more balanced spectrum.

No one should be asking any questions at home depot. Hell, you're lucky if you can get their attention. If they do, just say in your most deadpan voice - uh... lighting. Or try, I want to light the basketball hoop outside of my house, or my son's school can't afford professional lighting in the gym thanks to all the cut back in education, so I'm going to install this for them... Didn't you lie to your parents as a kid?!
