Buying Medical Cannabis on the Street, a Question?

Hi, I'm new to the site and have a question regarding purchasing MC.

I've had my card since October of '09 and like everyone else have dealt with the lack of product at the approved dispensaries. On top of that I'm very disappointed with the dispensary prices. Imo, their prices are outrageous and the quality of the product is average most of the time. On top of that, some dispensaries charge tax and others don't. All charge crazy delivery fees and the delivery methods have left me shaking my head with paranoia. All in all I'm not impressed with ANY dispensary in this state. Because of the aforementioned reasons I began buying "off the street".

In several forums I've read people post that buying "off the street" is illegal even if you have your DOHMCP card. This is contrary to what my doctor (the one who got me certified) has told me. Unless I misunderstood him and I don't think I did, he has said that I can legally buy on the street. Of course it isn't legal for people (besides dispensaries) to sell, but it was explained to me that if I was interrupted in a "buy" situation I could not be prosecuted if I'm a qualified/certified patient.

Can anyone enlighten me on this topic? Thanks in advance.

i may not enlighten you but i also buy off the street and have been since i got my card. i have had my card since feb and have not once been able to buy from a producer. But as far as i know it is still illegal to buy from someone other then a new mexico licensed producer.
