Are Classes on Cultivation Available in Denver
I would like to learn what it takes to become a producer/grower of medical marijuana for sale to dispensaries. I want to be legal (of course) and I want to learn how to grow a quality product. I also need to learn how the business works. Are there classes available or should I seek out knowledgeable individuals who might be willing to help my education along? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Suggest maybe taking a class for the business side of things but getting a mentor for the growing side.

As a dispensary owner I have seen a huge influx in people just like yourself and I have no qualms about it. Hopefully cultivating high quality cannabis will become a legitimate profession and no longer subjected to the social taboo it has been for the last many years.
I would only advise dont put all your eggs in one basket. Ive had several growers come to me with below average medicine trying to ask top price for it, only for them to leave angered at me for not purchasing it because they have a bill to pay or rent is due.
I understand times are tough and the job market is pretty bare, but just keep reminding yourself nothing is a sure thing. Just because you have weed, doesnt always mean it will sell. I see 50-100 vendors a month, but I only take product from maybe 5-10 of them.
I have been pondering the idea holding cultivation seminars at my shop, however im just trying to gauge interest and see if its worth putting together a lesson plan.

Growing cannabis can be a successful DIY endeavor... that's how I'd bet most got started before it was out in the open.
Get some books... or better/cheaper yet, spend a lot of time on sites like this and others. This site and others like ICMag, THCF, RIU, will all be able to get you started.
CCMMJ... I'm gonna bring something by in a couple weeks... would like to just get your input/opinion as I like your style :thumbsup:Brown-eyed women and red grenadine...

Just start a hempy bucket or two, under some T5s or CFLs - just to gain some experience. Buy a used Grower's Bible off of Amazon. Read what's on this site and the many many others like it. When you get stuck - ask a question.
I recommend a hempy bucket as it's very easy, also as easy as soil and if any mistakes are made, they're corrected fast. In soil, it takes a while to correct any mistakes.

I would gladly pay for a consultation where I can ask specific questions. However I've learned from the previous grow class I went to that I'm above the beginners and could either use a consultation with a knowledgable grower, to bounce ideas off of, or possibly an advanced class. But going to a class that talks about the basics, and grow room construction is of no benefit to me, my grow room is completely sealed, a/c'd and co2 enriched. It's a lot different than the typical setup, so any additional info I could learn about a conventional grow room can hardly be applied to mine.
I've talked to quite a few growers, working in dispensaries, that claim to produce top quality meds, and after talking to them for 10 minutes I can tell a lot of them produce the mid grade, and the top grade is coming from outside vendors. Becareful who you take advice from. After talking to CCF my gut feeling is they know how to grow top quality and I would gladly pay for advice.
Here's a little example coming from a well known disp, the grower that told me this is even on here. lol
We were talking about co2 enrichment. The hillbilly way is to not use a co2 sensor and just guess on how much co2 to use. Theres calculators out there that can calculate how much co2 it takes to fill the room, but thats it. It doesn't factor in how much leaks out and how much the plants use.
So when this grower tells me that I don't need a co2 sensor(cost up to $700 btw), and that he just doubles the amount of co2 needed with the co2 calculator to make sure there's PLENTY of co2 in the room. And these are the growers that a lot of patients are getting their "top shelf" meds from. LOL
There is defniitely a need for an advanced class from what I can tell.

Classes should be pretty specialized (IMO)
something like:
-beginners Hydro - Ebb and Flo - lean to make a complete system with take home parts list
-beginners Hydro - DWC/Bubbleponics/aeroponics (learn to build a recirculating dwc system with all parts needed for a 6 plant system)
-beginners Soil/Soiless/Organics
-beginners Outdoor - from gurilla to back yard
Intermediate:
Nutrient Requirements during veg and flower and examples with general hydroponics and advanced nutrients (1 or 2 versions for hydro + soil(less))
Proper Lighting + Ventilation for grows over 4K watts - lumens per square foot, bulb quality & lifetime, cooling systems
just some ideas to spread out the crowd some and make people happy by hitting on their subject..Colorado patient grower. :rambohead:
