Dual Actinic PL-L vs. Blue Led?
Now I realize there are a myriad of variables to be considered when designing a grow light, but it appears from my limited research that a 65w dual actinic PL-L may be better (in some apps) than a roughly equivalent amount of monochromatic blue leds.
PL-L:
More even light distribution.
Dual blue band coverage - 420 and 460nm.
Easier to build.
Can change bulbs/spectrum easily.
One light source.
Presently has higher lumen output per watt. (I believe.)
LED:
Much longer life.
Single band coverage.
Can change focus with lens.
More concentrated light.
Multiple light sources required.
Seems the extra peak at 420nm could provide some benefits to the plants that the 460nm LED might miss.
Thoughts on which may be best for a small grow and why?RackitMan Reviewed by RackitMan on . Dual Actinic PL-L vs. Blue Led?
