"The best thing I ever got from Wal-Mart"
I can't pass up the opportunity to share more.... when we first brought him home, Elie May (my "significant other", who has a metastasized pancreatic cancer at level 4) had always been a cat person, but Lefty has converted her to dog lover. She has a three wheeled bicycle that I have put a wheel chair motor and a couple of Hot Wheels batteries on, and no matter how low she feels, a short ride with "Lefty" escorting her NEVER fails to bring a legitimate grin to Elie May's face! He's a real trip man!
Something else that's NOT GOOD has brought him closer to us. In the last (approx.) 14 months Lefty has had four seizures. The first one was right after he was well enough to get up and move around before the cast came off, the next a few months later, then longer periods of time between the last two. It scared the crap outta me because it was my first experience with seizures at all. (and it still does!) He looked so scared and discombobulated that my reaction was to hold him and talk to him very softly and calmly while waiting for the seizure to pass. I think that's helped because he sure tries to get up close to me when they seem to start and he hasn't lost control of his body yet. Does anyone know anything about these seizures? One of the FEW things I know is that we have a bond that's born out of crisis, and DAMN!!!... that's freaking real!
If anyone has any advice at all for me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!
