One Step Closer!!!!!!!!
Well folks I am now one step closer to turning in my application!!!!
I got my pain management doctor to fill out my application!!! I have an appt next week with PCM for the second signature and then I plan on turning it all in!!!
I was a bit nervous asking my doc about this. He was the one to recommend this to me back in January but I did not want to jeopardize our relationship.
The meeting couldn't have been farther from my imagination. I didn't even ask about it until he said "Are you ready to try cannabis?"...I replied "Why yes Doc...I already have my portion of the form filled out for you!" He chuckled and noticed that HIS form was the one before the autoimmune mediated arthritis condition was on it. I ended up giving him a blank copy (I kept "extras" in case I screwed them up....LOL).
I know from John Monad's radio show that the board was considering dropping the two person requirement for chronic pain. I believe they voted unanimously to do so, but this still requires Dr. Vigil's signature.
With that in mind, and with the help of JM, I will be heading up to Santa Fe next week to get my second signature and then turn in the entire package to the DOH.
THANKS JM FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!
I will keep you all posted.....from what I can gather obtaining a rec from a pain specialist is a hard thing to do. Fortunately that was pretty damn easy for me. I think a blind man could see that I am in chronic pain....I am willing to bet 90% of the general public would be passed out/dead from the narcotics I have to take daily just to function.
With a little patience, I am hoping that I will be "part of the Card Carrying Club soon!"
Remember to check out John Monad's medical marijuana radio show too....!

Here's a great big grats to you. I sure do hope it goes through fast. I bet you do to. Then you may be able to leave the narcotics behind. Even if you have to use them a little, it must give you some peace of mind to know you have an alternative. :hippy:

That's great news Sandia. Glad to hear it! Pepurr is correct in having the peace of mind of an alternative. I haven't sent my app in but the choice is all that is keeping me sane,it's hard. Hear you on the meds too, most would be knocked out cold sleeping like a baby if they took my current regimen. I'm happy for you Sandia, thanks for bringing some good news to my,our day.

I'm glad you find it supportive Sandia,it is meant to in every way.
As far as me holding off I have other factors to consider. I have a young daughter and also a father who has always been staunchly opposed to the use of Cannabis. I love my dad and I don't want to have to make that decision. He of course has also told me that if it were legal it would be different but now that I could get it legally his attitude hasn't seemed to change. I can explain everything that I am going through to everyone else but my daughter, she is too young to understand but old enough to notice daddy smells funny. If I drank and smelled like booze it would be no problem of course but the total demonizing of Marijuana has made that impossible to explain. I don't want my girl smoking dirt weed in junior high or high school.Responsible use by responsible or ill adults is what I believe in. Not to mention the supply! I guess I figure what is the point if there is hardly ever any medicine.I'm going to have to give in soon whether I can hide the smell or not. I have PTSD as a result of a traumatic head injury and it seems to be getting worse fast. I really could go on and on but the main reason is that I don't want my girl to think that because I smoke that it is okay for her to as well.Legal or not you really can't explain these things to a 9yr old and have any success.I don't know how to anyway.

I am in a different situation as I do not have children. What you have stated, and how you stated it, really touched me. THANK you for sharing that openly. I respect you tremendously for doing so!
Cool....things are moving along fairly smooth now. If the folks on the site had not helped me this whole process probably would be much more stressful!! Hope all is well with you!

Thats great news dude, hope it goes quickly for you.
I faxed in my APP about 18 days ago so I am watching for the mailman every day now!
My only concern is getting registered and getting meds before they run out againGet seeds, learn to garden and take control of your medication.

anonymouse,
Did you send in your growing app as well? If not, I would recommend doing so...if for the only reason that you could produce your own during times of "no herb".
Think about it this way, there are FIVE producers and approximately 1500 patients in our state. These are rough numbers but are pretty close. That means that each producer, if divided evenly has to supply 300 patients.
That might not SEEEEEM like a huge obstacle, but NM Administrative Code stipulates that producers can only have 95 plants.
SOOOO....95 plants divided amongst 300 patients equals..... 0.32 plants per person. And that assumes that the patient load is distributed evenly across the state.
As many folks have stated before....THERE IS A PROBLEM right now with the number of producers in the state. I, for one, am glad that the state has regulation in this program, but geeeeze louise, they have to allow more producers in the state.
At the hearing in Santa Fe on the 30th, if you look at JMs medical marijuana radio show and listen to the tape, you will see that the board members stated that I believe that EVERY application for a non-profit producer was sent in to them INCOMPLETE.
I don't know about you guys, but do ya think that if you were trying to be one of the pioneers in this field within NM, you would take the time to make sure you met the requirements?????? I sure as hell do! So while some applications may have a slight issue.....I would SERIOUSLY doubt that they all do.
Anyhow that was a bit off topic but something I wanted to get off of my chest......It would be nice if the state moved a bit faster on this subject.
Again....write and talk to your legislators folks!

I also have her watch shows/movies that mislead kids about what MJ can do to them and what MJ can do for people medicinally. She saw for herself that *I* do not act the way these shows try to portray people on MJ and she also saw first-hand people with parkinsons, MS, etc and how they are instantly helped by smoking.
If you hide it from your daughter, she will think something is bad with it, if you explain that it is a plant that helps relieve your ills and without it you can't be the best dad because of your particular condition, she will understand it.
Also, explaining that MJ is a medicine for you and not something you 'just do' and that while it is used for recreational purposes, your use is for medicinal purposes, and that you expect that she respect that, just as with 'drinking' or smoking cigarettes, these are 'adult' decisions. Kids can understand a lot more than parents give them credit for.
As for your father, it is not his life and you should not let him sway your decision on using the best medicine for yourself. You are an adult and are prepared to accept the consequences of your own actions.
I wish you the best of luck in your decision and hope all works out for you.
