    Your kids

now I'm only 19 and not having kids for awhile but I say YES lots of freedom but in the form of choices and if they choose the bad ones they will see the consequences. I will talk to my kid about cannibis and to stay away from the binge boozing I mean whoever said weed is better is right! The grades have to stay up there and not become a burnout. You guys are right just have to lead them in the right direction. Jeez I hope I am a good parent but why am I thinking of that now I don't want kids till I'm like 29!
I want to have fun while I'm young and you can't do that with a kid to come home to early at 8:00 YUCK!!!!
GooseBear Reviewed by GooseBear on . Your kids When/if you have kids, what do you think you're gonna tell them about pot. I know for a fact, i'm not going to want my kids smoking until at least after their junior year. anytime sooner (i think) is much to soon. Now i know there are many of you that can smoke and not "head down that road". For me, i began to smoke and i headed down the wrong road. My life is really bad right now. And i don't want my kids to fall fool to the desire of being high. God my life sucks so much right now. I'm Rating: 5

I found out my parents smoked pot when I was 17, and that same year they starting letting me smoke (although I don't think they knew my sister had already let me try it once), but I wish they'd let me in on it earlier. With my kids, it won't be a question of how many years has passed since the kid crawled out of a vagina but how mature the kid is psychologically. If I ever have children, I will allow them to smoke whenever I deem them mature enough to handle it. And I'm not going to hide it from them, ever, but I won't have to fear getting caught since by then I will have moved to the Netherlands.

    Interesting
For those who have read my other posts you know I am a hard core stoner. I
have been smoking for 35+ years. I have been strung out on the hard stuff (coke,
meth, the big H) and broke all those habits. I managed to avoid alcohol and
tobacco, major addictions for people my age. I have four children. They range
from 31 to 22. Two are smokers, two are not. Three of them have at least
experimented with ??illegal? drugs, one is a straight and narrow.
There never was a talking about drugs, I smoked in front of them and when I was
junked or zipped I never hid any part of that. I did not allow or encourage the kids
to smoke, and did my best to discourage any of those habits until they were 18.
The reasons were complicated, mostly involving the legal consequences, and a
father in law in politics. I discouraged tobacco use and alcohol. There were
various consequences for the violations I discovered. Grounding and extra chores
    were the most common.
As they reached the age of reason, anywhere from 12 to 15 depending on the
individual personality, I did have ??the talk? with them. Usually in conjunction with
the Birds and Bees conversation. My children had picked up a lot more my life
than from my talk. They knew what they could and could not say to strangers.
They knew more about my mood swings than I did, and they had some real
horror stories about the times I had no memory of. I listened more than I talked. It
was my children that helped me out of my last two ??hard? habits, and I will never
be able to love them enough for what they put up with. I spent a lot of time with
the teachers and school principals explaining that my children are being raised by
political liberals and some of our views and opinions may not match what the
textbooks described as history. History I explained is always written by the
    winners.
Anyway when you talk to them they will tell you about Dad??s smokes and Mom??s
smokes. Once my 3rd son caught my eldest son sneaking out of my room and
when he questioned him (ages 11 and 15) he discovered that Dad??s home rolls
were pot and the eldest had been raiding my stash for months. ( I just thought I
was rolling larger joints, I wondered where my weed was going). As it seemed
normal, it never struck him that Dad was a pot head. Mom bought her cigarettes
and Dad rolled his own. It seemed simple to him.
I made the choice not to share with the kids until they were 18 and even though
they were smoking long before that and I explained to them the need for
??plausible deniability?. They did cooperate and understood Dad had pissed off
some local politicians and had to at least seem to keep his nose clean or I
wouldn??t be able to cook for the kids for a long time.
When everyone was old enough I took them all to Amsterdam and the smokers
and I had a tour of the coffee shops that is a story in it self. By that time my two
non smokers were established as their own people so we spent the mornings
doing family type stuff, Museums, and art galleries, and I spent the evenings with
the two smokers tripping over our own feet. All in all everyone had a great time.
So the question about children and drug use is moot, it??s all in how you deal with
your own life and problems. Children will learn from your actions not your
lectures: so live a good life, however you choose to relax. Doctor G

Thank you. I have the greatest award possible, my children and I respect each other and do truely care and love each other. I am hoping to sail around the world next year and my #2 son and his wife intend to join me. That could be a heck of a party!! In my experience ,anything you try to hide, just attracts their attention. So we treated it all like normal. God bless their mother, heart of gold and my ex wife. So all I can do is try to teach others, love is the answer. And lies don't spread love. Be Good
