I'm not aware of any rift. I have done virtually all kinds of growing without soil. Everything from DWC, to Ebb and flow, aeroponics, multi-flow, waterfarms etc.

I've grown for 7 yrs, and the only one I would never do again is the one you want to start. You can have all kinds of back up systems, but the problem is that you can be right next to your plants and they look just fine. but you can't see the nozzles being plugged, and you walk out for lunch and when you come back you have a dead garden. Those roots are suspended in the air. The moment the spray stops they have no protection and will die very quickly. Any other type of hydro, and you have a bit more time to rescue them. I have seen my plants perfect and an hour later the roots were so dry that they CRACKED off when I tried to move them. Why take the chance when you can use another system that would be much more forgiving?
