    Another newb, another question

    Hi there all.

Like the thread title says, still a newb here ut been doin a fair bit of reading up on growing, and plan to get my setup up n running in about a month, which leaves me plenty time for reading. But cant find a straight answer to my q.....

My question is to do with 'budsites'.

Been reading up quite a bit of lst, and every now and again the word budsites pops up. Where exactly are budsites ? Where does the actual bud grow ? Is it in at the stem, or is it the little clusters of leaves that grow on each branch? {and are ususally brighter green/yellow than the reast of the foiliage ?} Or is it both ?

I done a google to try get some examples but when i google marijuana bud sites, i just get hit with web 'sites' about 'bud'.

So if anyone could maybe explain to me like im a 5 yr old, how and where the bud actually grows from would be much apprieciated. Or any pics with budsites would be fantastic too.

Thanks. Sorry for the noobness. we all have to start sumwhere.

    Cheers !

    Another newb, another question

Actually that is a good question.

The bud is the part we want to partake of. Trichomes concentrate there and on the leaves, that is what the white snow/crystals are.

The cannabis plant has a main stalk that has many side branches that come off from each place a "sun" leaf comes out from the stalk. These in turn will grow stalks, with more stalks coming out, smaller sun leaves as you approach the top, and the little white pistils (hair) are intermixed with the very short leaves.

A 'bud' may be as small as a dime or it may be over a foot long and 2" in diameter or more for the very topmost buds.

Like any flowering plant, the bud is the part that has the flower(s). In cannabis, as you approach the top of the plant the bud becomes much more prolific and the sun leaves are totally independent. The Buds will still have leaves, but not the same size and will be part of the compact 'bud'

The first picture is two very top buds. They are comprised of many smaller buds that grow directly off the main. The entire mass is known as a cola.

Second picture has one main cola with a sub branch and nice bud on the right. Note the yellow sun leaves. At the base of each is a bud.

Third picture is the bud at the top of a cola. Note how the leaves get smaller and smaller.

The last is a good view of how the buds grow in clumps to become the colas.

    Excellent buddy. Nice reply ;]

Those pictures are damn nice too m8.

still another q or 2 if you dont mind...

Sun leaves ? is that basically the 'fan' leaves, no ?
Are sun leaves are diff, do they grow right in at the stem at each branch/ node u mean ?

Pretty much got he concept of how the main stem {cola} lol, grows but its the side branches that im trying to get my head round.

In the second pic, the sub branch you pointed out. Where is that growing from, is that way down at the bottom just a few nodes up ? One of the first branches ever to grow from when it was early in veg ?

Also, when do side branches stop growing? Once a particular growth pattern has appeared or would it keep growing out and like multiplying until you switch to 12/12 ?

    thanks again m8. Sorry for the shitload of questions and hope it makes sense. [Had a spiliff earlier which prob wasnt a good idea when doin research}

The last pick you posted it great btw, they all are cheers, but never seen leaves like that in the last one before, are they red almost, is that a strain thing or is it a sign its ready to be harvested ?

    Thanks.

    Another newb, another question

Washougalwonder posted some nice pics of what look to be fully developed buds.

Personally I had a similar question to yours in WHERE do these, and HOW do these form. I've seen plenty of finished bud in my life and torn it apart MANY times. However it's likely the first thing I ever took apart and didn't notice HOW it was put together in the first place.

So I've got some pics of my colas I took just over a week ago. Although it's hard to get the camera to focus on the correct spot, so the focal point may be a bud leaf tip or a hair.

    Has def helped me here.

Im sure i can do lots n los of readin and look at many pics. But yeah, the best way to see how they form im sure is by actually getting my hands dirty.

What strain is that in the pics m8 ? Is that a sativa ?

And in the last pic, thats 2 plant right ? one behind another ?

either way its a fkn damn nice plant m8. Did you lst that ?

    Thanks

It was a bag seed from a friend She grew a plant in her back yard last year. THAT plant had seeds fertilized by god only knows what. She gave me one bud with about 10 seeds in it. I sprouted three from those.

Yes there are two plants. One LST, One natural (The one I topped died after a partial sex change).

The closest plant in the pic was/is LST'd, with about eight and a half weeks of Veg time on both.

Although both are from the same bud, I think the natural grown is higher Indica (due to a wider more jagged leaf). I think the LST is slightly more Sativa. However I'm not sure. I suppose the differences in methods used to grow them COULD account for the slightly different leaves.

This is my first grow BTW. Which is why I did one natural, one LST and one topped. LST is a great method, even with good lighting. The number of colas on that plant just blows me away. I can barely stand the wait at this point!
