A friend of mine owned a cat that would eat his plants. Get one of those and you have to bring a dog into the picture to protect against that cat.

My wife and I rented a farm house once that was lousy with mice. Fortunately we had two cats that were in heaven mousing the place. First 15 minutes we were in the house they brought us four "trophies". Cats work great, but you better have a strong stomach.
