Plans for first grow!

HI!
I am planning to build my first (real) grow box. I was looking to grow a modest 4 plants

I wanted to go CFL's or tube Fluros.

I also want to grow in dirt.

I have about a 2 1/2 x 3 foot grow space.



Random items I have:
2 15 watt 18" Fluros
1 23 watt Fluro circle thing
Lots of Miracle Grow dirt ( It has already been opened.. dont know if that matters or not?)
1 Y Light socket splitter
2 Plug timers


The only issue that I would like people to keep in mind is that I live in an old house and I dont want to use big HPS lights that will fuck up my electricity.


I was thinking of putting a total of 150 watts of CFL's and what not through VEG and Flower

Just looking for your advise on what to do and your:twocents:

It could work, but honestly you should have more light if you want a somewhat decent amount of final product.

Fresh soil is always advisable, but as long as it hasn't been sitting around for a while opened it should still be ok.

When growing in any enclosed space, you will need to make ventilation a top priority as heat builds up really fast! I recommend at least an exhaust fan with 120CFM, double if you plan on having a filter attatched to get rid of smell.

Keep reading the grow logs & tossing out ideas you think you want to try, no such thing as too much research...

For four plants, and that space, a 250w hps would be pretty good. I know I know, you don't want hps and are worried about the electricity of your house but it's really not that much in the end, even with a decent exhaust fan. You can use a microwave in the house, right?

CFL's will grow bud, but they are not as efficient per watt, slower, need more sockets and wires, and require constant adjusting. :twocents:
