Well, I bought a leaf trimmer last week, and I had a chance to use it.

It's a Pro-Cut Fast. There were 2 types for sale (in the Seattle area), and one was gone already by the time I got there, so I bought the other one. The one that I missed has a hand crank, and the one I bought has a motor on it. You can see the non motor one on youTube. I think it was listed at about $500. Mine was the more expensive one that was 900 plus tax. Let me re-phrase that, that's what I got it for. It had been listed for $1099. Both work on the same principle. Imagine one of those little round BBQ grilles that use briquettes. That's the size of it, and underneath that grill is a blade... that cuts any leaf that drops down into the grill. My motorized version runs that blade maybe 1000rpm. So the way it works, you cut your buds and place them on the "BBQ grill", and turn the motor on. While the motor turns the blade under the grill very rapidly, it is geared down to perhaps 50 rpms and turns some 24 rubber fingers (similar to the rubber of a 4" bungee cord) and rolls the buds around that round grill so the blade underneath can cut the leaves. I think generally, the machine can handle one plant at a time. If they are real big plants you might have to load it two or three times.

Although this is by no means a professional machine (they cost $15-$25,000)that would handle huge amounts, I think it will have no problem paying for itself. After running a few plants to learn the best technique, I think it will easily do my trimming job in about one third of the time my scissors do it.
