My confusion started with you heating the water. Room temp is good. 24 hours of out gassing is what pretty much everyone does(to remove chlorine). It shouldn't sit and stagnate to long.
You should water after the top couple inches of soil dry out. Most of the time every 2-3 days depending on humidity and plant size (big plants suck it down, compared to little ones). Water just enough to see a tiny bit drain out the bottom.
I think it's time to re-pot. Your plant is 10 inches tall in a 1 gallon-ish pot. Re-pot to a 3 gallon.:thumbsup:
I posted two pics. First one was my first root bound plant, about an hour after re-pot. Second pic is a few days later after recovery.
