Questions about molasses
Thanks in advance for your answers.
I'm coming up on my fourth week of flower. I've read MANY mentions of molasses in many grow logs, and one REALLY long copy/paste post.
Many mention using this as a supplement during the last weeks of flower to add MANY things, and it all sounds good.
However, I've been growing my plants in Fox farms Ocean (pretty much, mixed my own similar for the first re-pot). I bought the B.C. hydro nutes(starter pack), and have been feeding every third watering at about 1/4 strength. Soil PH is in the mid-high 6s. I water just under PH-6 and adjust with General hydro PHdown.
My question would be,.. Should I stick with the set BC nute schedule and not use molasses? Or if I use the molasses, should I eliminate any of the BC nutes to avoid over nuting?Vancefish Reviewed by Vancefish on . Questions about molasses
I would recommend you stay away from the molasses and stick with your nutrients. My friend tried the molasses method and it killed his plants hard!

Questions about molasses
I've never done the molasses, but do know several people that have. I personally have used powdered sugar while flushing....it adds a little sweetness, which is what i think people are trying to do with the molasses. everyone has their own flushing technique, you just gotta find what works for you!
when I flush, i use about 3 tbsps of powdered sugar and 8 tbsps of catalyst per gallon of water....

Questions about molasses
Molasses isn't used so much as a flush, as it is a nute supplement that is high in carbs(thus increasing bud growth). I plan to flush with PH set DI/RO, but that might be four weeks out.
I guess my question could switch to,.. Does anyone know if the BC nute package accounts for this already? Or do people use it in addition to the regular nutes?
Currently I'm over joyed at the number of buds I'm seeing. I also know that much of my weight will come on in the last couple weeks. However, whenever I read something new. It creates many more possibilities, I didn't see before.
I would assume the BC nutes will likely continue to impress me (being my first ever grow), But if a little molasses would improve it,... Questions about molasses
I know someone that uses BC products and does not need to use anything other than what they recommend. If you really want to try the molasses I would suggest you try it on one plant. Dilute it down by about a teaspoon to one gallon of water, and/or your regular nutrients.

Questions about molasses
Thanks Rusty,
That's what I was thinking. I'm still not sure though, as BC might contain this stuff already. I know a couple of the supplements used in this kit are quite thick and look a little like Molasses (they don't smell like it though).
The really long article I read after searching this site for info, said (and listed) a few overpriced supplements that were actually just molasses too.
Here's a link for those who don't know, and have some spare time.

Hopefully, someone here might know if this BC has it or not.A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

Questions about molasses
Look at the ingredients on the bottle. If it says "derived from sugar beets" or "extracted from sugar cane" or something similar, it's a molasses-based product.
Molasses doesn't smell that good.

Wish my first grow looked like that! Looking sweet vance! When I used the bc recipe for success in soil and soilless mixes, the girls always produced big chunky buds. And cigs right on with the sugar daddy. Derived form cane sugar. Since I changed to aeroponics, I am now using Fox Farms for the value and simplicity. But keep it up. She looks great! By the way, whats the strain?
