    outdoor grow question

I have some land where I can plant a few ladies that I have been veggin' for about 6 weeks now.
My plan is to plant them and leave them. I only want to check them a couple times.
Right now they are in FF planting mix, so they have some nutes already.

My question is: should I amend the soil where I plant them?
If so, any recommendations on what to use, since I won't be feeding them at all after that?

    Thanks for any advice!

    outdoor grow question

    Aloha,

Depends on a few factors. What is the soil like where your ladies are going? PH? Also how far of a trek is it to your their new home? Nothing like extra weight on your back, and extra trips, to blaze a big old trail to your kids.

Since I believe in going in light and one time I would (depending on the soil you are working with) just take some time release 14-14-14 in with you on the first trip. Also a small bit of lime (if necessary). And a some bone meal. That will take care of the first couple of months. If you are in a dry area some water retaining crystals would help. Remember to put a small sprinklig at the bottom of your hole. A little goes a long way and too much will force the plant out of the hole.

When you come back to check for males you can bring in ferts for the next stage. If possible think time release. I believe Scotts make a time release for the flowering stage.

Good Luck and have a Great Sweat.

Thank for the advise. i dont think dryness will be a factor. im not sure what the soil make up is. Its in the midwest, non clay soil.

Also, any idea when I should plant these suckas???

    thank again

    outdoor grow question

I would wait until the last killing frost. Since I live in Hawaii I have no idea when that will be. No frost here, so you know your local conditions. I would wait until the crop you are going to hide them in gets at least a couple of feet high.

Remember to adjust your indoor plants to the outdoors slowly. If you live close to the plants and you don't run the risk of getting seen or leaving trails, go ahead and ammend the soil. It will help your plants grow big. Use the same stuff they are currently in.

    Good Luck

    outdoor grow question

    oooo thats another good question.
they are currently on 24 hrs of light.
should I switch them to 18/6?
if so, should I just do it at once? Or do it gradually, like over 6 days....1 hour a night?

PS- these bitches are already 18-24 inches....im excited to see how big they get b/c of that!:clap::clap::clap::clap:

I'm in the Mid-West, sounds like you are working with a loam soil. If that's the case, you are lucky. Although they are somewhat tolerant to dry conditions, we are overdue for a drought somewhere in this area(and that could only cover a portion of the Mid-West during the Summer). Then again, I was wrong last year and paid dearly for planting too close to a water source(spider mites etc. thrive in wet conditions and will strip your plants bare in 72 hours).

There's an alternative you can try as well that I found very effective. Those pics I re-posted in my thread next to this one were all grown in 5 gallon buckets(drilled of course). I spray the outside green, you'd be surprised how difficult they are to spot when concealed properly...many native plants look identical. Plus you have the added advantage of mobility, which comes in handy in the event of an early frost...like we had last year.

    Good Luck!

I missed this, you need to adjust those ASAP. I started from seed over a month ago and did it naturally(neighbors can't see and the plants aren't staying here anyways)in windows. If anyone here knows more on this light adjustment topic, please correct me. I would go down to 18 for a week and then go natural sunlight. Partial shade works fine as well if you have a space issue indoors.

I would go 18/6 now. I started at 24/0 then changed to 18/6 and i believe my plants liked the switch. I think it gives the plants a bit of recovery time while in the dark.

If ya go in the ground and not 5 gal buckets, which i might add are great, make sure you plant deep. Even if you gotta put branches under ground, do it. Your plants will stabilize faster root growth, which will start growth above ground faster. This will give you more growing time, thus bigger buds at the end. Also, you could put a bag of feeder soil in your holes before you put your plants in. This is something i wish i would have done last year, but will make sure i do this year. You can get soil that will feed for 3 months, which is just about as long as ya want to feed. Most of the stuff im sure dosnt feed for that long, but long enough i think to get your plants big enough to make you happy at harvest. Now most people stay away from this type of soil, but i had good luck inside with it, so why not take advantage of a cheap way to not have to worry about feeding plants you dont want a trail too. This is something iv never tried, so i guess you could watch what happens. Once my indoor is ready to be re vegged and seedlings are vegged to size, il be moving back here in the outdoor section. It was just to fun last year in here:thumbsup:

Good luck and il be seein ya:rasta:

    outdoor grow question

Ill make the light switch asap. thanks
I know what you mean about the 5 gal buckets.
My first indoor grow was in a 5 gal, and I got a 4 foot plant that yielded a QP
I dont think that will work for what Im going to be doing, but that is a great idea.

Ill look into some time release stuff and see what I find.

I doubt dryness will be an issue where im going, it is right by several steams and ponds

    Thanks for all the tips!!!
