whats an easy grow medium
Hi,
I was hoping I could get away with growing in soil this time until I can afford some hydro buckets. soil seems to be a little tricky for me. probely because I am watering to much and fertilizing to much. does any body have any sugestions for me I am looking for the next best growing medium other than hydroponics. should I even bother with soil or should I just try to build a bucket system.oodonk9 Reviewed by oodonk9 on . whats an easy grow medium Hi, I was hoping I could get away with growing in soil this time until I can afford some hydro buckets. soil seems to be a little tricky for me. probely because I am watering to much and fertilizing to much. does any body have any sugestions for me I am looking for the next best growing medium other than hydroponics. should I even bother with soil or should I just try to build a bucket system. I'm just finishing my first grow and I can recommend growing in coco. It gives you complete control over how much and what nutrients your plants get and is good practice before moving up to a full hydroponics system, as it is a hydroponic medium.

Easiest grow medium ever.
Think of it as solid state hydro.
Grows better than the best soil I could find.

I highly recommend it.

I'll have to try the coco next go round. This is my second soil attempt and I just started having PH issues with my Sensi Star plants.
Weez, I had runoff at 5.4...ran about 20-22 gallons of 7-7.5 ph plain water through the five gallon buckets and PH only went to 5.9-6. Does that seem odd?

Soil is a lot of things. Kind of a moving target.
And it can be quite stubborn about ph and PPM.
Easy to break, hard to fix.
Coco is the reverse of that.
Give it a try.

Dude,
I am getting ready to harvest my first plant and have done everything from scratch*. I would suggest this: Get some of the ProMix in the orange bag!! It is simple because it stays at neutral ph, which allows you to keep your nutes straight and you are set. I have noticed some calc/mag deficienies but that is very easy to correct. It holds water, drains well and is easy to maintain. Grab a bag of perlite too. you will add the perlite @ 4:1 ratio of promix: perlite.
Mix that together with advanced nutrients and it is fairly easy to maintain!! I will help if I can...it is virtually impossible to get feedback on here. I hate to piggy back on others' links.....I think they just don't like me!! hahahhaha.......

My only concern with the coco is watering frequency. I can deal with every 2-3 days, but every 12 hours or so will be a problem. What's the watering schedule like with coco on average?

hey, man, I jsut saw Phat-Jays re: and that is cool. I think if a couple of us noobies help each other we can prosper!! I have no idea how i didn't see it the first time...i do have a slight buzz!!

But either way, the stuff he is talking about sounds pretty good too. I just wish I had a way to know exactly when to harvest!!! The crystals arent ready yet but i want to allow for a week of just water after flush!! They say it really helps. Phat Jay just helped me yesterday as a matter of fact.
One other thing, I have found that there is two guys on here that have extremely useful, savvy info: Rusty Trichome and parole Loc something or something Loc parole!! anyway, these guys seem to be straight out of the book and are extremely helpful. Take care man!!!

man, I have no idea about the watering with coco. The h20 with 4:1 is about onec a week until they really start using and then it is about every 4 days in a 3 gllon container. The perlite is a must, in my opinion. It holds water like you couldn't imagine. They take about a gallon-gallon and a quarter each.

Once the plants reach a reasonable size I water/feed everyday with coco, with small plants I water slightly less frequently. I am sure you could get away with watering/feeding ever other day or even every 3 days, but I think it would reduce the size of your harvest. One of the advantages of coco, is that it maintains a really good water to air ratio and It`s hard to over water. For best results most people seem to water/feed everyday at lights on.
