    Is OF mixed for localities?

I would like to know, does Fox Farms make a mix for a general locality? For example I am in the Pacific NW and a very moist climate, Rusty is in Arizona and a very dry climate.....does his OF have less vermiculite that the mix I get? In other words do they climatize the mix for the general shipping area. I doubt seriously my OF is shipped from the same place Rusty's is.

    Thoughts? Facts?

    Is OF mixed for localities?

As far as I know...one recipe nationwide. (consistency) But ammending to suit your locale and season is usually as easy as adding perlite (better drainage) or vermiculite. (small chunk-size for moisture retention, larger chunk-size for better drainage) I've been tempted when it get's real hot, to add smaller-chunk vermiculite, but have been fine without the added expense.

During the winter I add more perlite, or my soil wouldn't dry enough between feedings and it makes for a muddy medium that isn't kind to plants. If I were to add more perlite in the summer, I'd have to water twice a day.

Keep in mind when using the vermiculite...if using the large size chunks for better drainage...eventually the chunks can break-down to the smaller size. (which retains water better) Not a major issue...just one to be aware of.
