Agreed, would be much easier if your primary doc was also the one who signs off on your recommendation.

Honestly though, I think you might be shit out of luck on finding a PCP through your Insurance Provider as most of those doctors seem to be content to continue to be bought off by large pharmaceutical companies. My Kaiser PCP rocked but she basically told me that if she were to prescribe me to something that i could make on my own as compared to something that was manufactured by her bosses boss that her job could be in jeopardy...
Crazy.
However, I've had the displeasure of working with most of the doctors on the scene in Denver and was about to explode when possibly the one of the greatest people I've met in this scene walked through our doors. His name is Dr. Shackelford and his companies name is Amerimed of Colorado. His number's very easy to find if you google Amerimed MMJ (I'm not sure if putting his number up here would be advertising for him or not).I believe he still does consultation work on thursdays at Patients choice but am not sure about that. He is really only available for people who have medical records and legitimate reasons for wanting a card but if you are in need he is the #1 doc period. I've recomended well over 100 people to him and have never heard a single bad remark back. In fact, I've had about 10 people come in and tell me that he waived his $120 doctor fee and also paid out of his own pocket for their $90 state fee. Please, don't call them up if you aren't legitimately in need of serious care as I would hate for you to waste his awesome receptionist's, Joyce's, time if you don't have your records based on my recomendation. If you are in need, I seriously can't stress to you enough how much this guy rocks.

Thank you for sharing the doctors information. I still know several people who want their recommedation but do not feel comortable in a dispensary setting waiting for their appointment. I will give them this information.
The best part of Kaiser is KP.org. It is easy for any patient to access their medical records and print them out. Those are the records both my husband and myself used for our recommendation. Both of us have greatly benefited from being and MMJ patient and even our employers can see the difference although they do not know why and are chaulking it up to convention medicine I am sure.

Although they usually play it off as you actually DO need the drug. Facts are the doctors boss's, boss's, boss, IS the drug company, AND the insurance company. If a doctor does something either of his/her bosses doesn't like (like prescribing something that doesn't make either boss any money). They will threaten, harass and even take legal action against the doctor. These HUGE international corporate conglomerates are the same group lobbying congress to force through nationalized health care, having doctors prescribing untested drugs, filling our vaccines with thymerisol(<-sp?)(mercury).
Personally I feel it's gotten REALLY bad since these companies lobbied congress and got drug ads to run on national TV. I don't really trust ANY of the doctors I've met over the last 10+ years. I'm not afraid of them, I just don't trust the diagnosis most of the time.
When I went in to have my spine looked at by a "real" doctor (Not the chiropractor). This guy poked me, lifted my left leg,...He never took an Xray, or scheduled an MRI. Then started scheduling me for surgery. I left while he was out of the exam room. That was 14 years ago. These days I still have some left leg numbness, I see a chiropractor about twice per year. PLUS I can still lift 50lbs! (everyone I've met who's had the surgery is limited to 20lbs).
Granted, If I went to a "real" doctor. They would happily prescribe some heavy (likely addictive) drugs to the relieve pain. Those would cost me FAR more then MJ. God only knows what the drugs would do to my system long term. Plus, SO many drugs have been used by millions, for a few years, before recalled due to some MAJOR health issue it caused (flonaise kills your sense of smell for example).
The doctor is SO tied up in liability that if they do something unapproved by the "boss". THEY are held liable! Where as if they prescribe the bosses drug, they are protected from reprisal. :wtf:
I love the drug ads,.. Do you have a stuffy nose? Take this and live a "normal" life,... (may cause headaches, dry skin, upset stomach, or DEATH!) Now THAT must be worth the risk right?? (personally I'll take the stuffy nose:thumbsupA wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
