Maybe, 9-11 is the world of automation showing it's domination over the human race. Humans created energy, ran energy to it and through it, created more energy (with energy running through it and being discharged), and, just like water attracts water, maybe the auto-pilot on the aircraft was attracted to the electrical signals running through the World Trade Center.
