HTG EasyCool 6 vs. Euro Air Cooled Hood
I am trying to find a hood to cool a 400W HPS. The space is going to be 5' (L) x 2' (W) x 6' (H). I was originally going to go with a cool tube from HTG but read that you get better reflectivity from an air cooled hood, so I am trying to decide between HTGSupply's EasyCool 6 ( High Tech Garden Supply ) or their Euro Air Cooled Hood which is a little cheaper ( High Tech Garden Supply ).
Does anyone have experience with either of these hoods? Which would you guys suggest between these two for my setup? I am planning on running a modded stanley blower to use ducting to the intake on the blower to pull air through the light hood, ducting and then the blower blows it out. I am also considering adding a carbon filter somewhere in the ducting. Is it better to have it setup like filter > Short run of Duct >Hood > Duct > Blower outside box or should I have it Hood > Short run of duct > Filter > Duct > Blower outside box? Or should I not try to put a carbon filter on this line and put it somewhere else instead?
I was wanting to use the stanley to pull air to cool hood and also filter it but if it would be better to just have ducting pull fresh air from outside the box to the hood then from the hood through duct to the blower I can go that way too.
Any help would be very appreciated.UpInVapor Reviewed by UpInVapor on . HTG EasyCool 6 vs. Euro Air Cooled Hood I am trying to find a hood to cool a 400W HPS. HTG EasyCool 6 vs. Euro Air Cooled Hood
I own both hoods and the Euro is awesomd but e. Its a little larger then I would've liked however is cover my space of 3'x4x lovely. I only have a HTG 6 inch fan with about 2 feet of ducting to dump the heat and everything worked out awesome. With just the 6 inch fan it cooled the temps atleast 12 degrees with the MH bulb and about 16 degrees with the HPS> bulb. The HPS created much more heat:thumbsup: Hope this helps!
ps The 6 inch inline fan is rated at 190 cfm. I am in the process of hooking up a 6 inch booster fan with carbon filter set up at the moment so I don't know exactly what woulb be best for you. However its more efficient to be sucking air out then pushing the air through. I'm going to hooking my carbon filter to the outake with a fan controller and get it dialed in.I'll throw in some more info after its all done this weekend

HTG EasyCool 6 vs. Euro Air Cooled Hood
htgs hoods are cheap garbage. for that price you might as well buy a quality one. i bought a hydrofarm aircooled xtrasun with cord for $10 cheaper than the more expensive one you linked. if you have hydrofarm or a quality hood next to those hgts hoods you can tell hgts isnt constructed good. everyone thinks they got good prices but if you look around you can find quality equipment, it may be 10-20$ more but you get quality shit. i had a htgs aircooled hood and it was suppose to be sealed but had air leaks and the reflector inside discolored...

I would get a hood that comes with sockets and cords; that are compatible will your current ballast. Rewiring is a hassle.

HTG EasyCool 6 vs. Euro Air Cooled Hood
I have one of the HTG Easy Cool's 6" and it sucks balls a total piece of junk.
1)If you open it to a normal level to change bulb the case deforms and cracks edge of glass.
2)The "air seal" is pointless when it leaks air from every weld plus the foam gasket isnt even cut to the correct size so not a real seal.
3)The socket blocks more then 50% of the air and creates a whistling sound.
I got pissed smashed it and got 2 Sun System Yield Master II hoods from Igrowhydro.com for 89 bucks a piece wow day and night difference in quality and craftsmanship.Plus a lot cheaper in price.
