When do you guys decide to Flower?

hi new here my second post

just doing some research to try and learn some instead of just asking questions. whats this about plants showing pre flowers now i did a little growing in the past 2 crops. and i never noticed pre flowers before are they easy to spot when looking for them ???

i guess im asking is what to look for. i remember when i put my lights 12/12 and saw the plant start to flower is it the same thing

and thx to this thread i realize i let my plants grow to high before flowering 4' (white widow)

ps i realize i asked a question but was doing some research reading post allready made

The pre flowers are the pistils and such. It shows the plant is sexually mature (ready to flower properly).
The longer you let your plants grow the bigger they will get obviously but if they get too big you need bigger pot and the lower buds wont get much light without quite a few globes. They also double or even triple when the lights are set to 12/12 which causes a few problems for the ill prepared.

p.s i was one of the un prepared people and ended up with some MASSIVE sativas which ended up causing major problems for me and my room.

Do you guys ever have to worry about running out of room for the roots in the pot? I have my WW's in a 3 gallon pot now, but I'm afraid that they'll become rootbound quickly, and maybe I should switch them to flower now, even though they're only about a foot tall.
