Colorado senator wants tax on medical marijuana - The Denver Post
I have to wonder how he can support dispensaries as non profit and expect to get taxes off the sick people buying MMJ.
Sen Romer seems to be all over the place in regards to Medical Marijuana and I get the impression he is unsure what his stand is.
I have no problem with the taxation of Marijuana, but I do take issue with a special excise tax for MMJ. If we were placing an excise tax on a legal product its one thing, then we would be adding taxes for recreational users. I am in no way in favor of creating an additonal tax on Medical Marijuana. Since there is no relief from insurance companies on the price of MMJ, the last thing we need is something else to make it less affordable for those in need.
Legalize it and tax it but leave medical marijuana alone.Reenster Reviewed by Reenster on . he just wants a success.
last year he tried to push through a bill that would have given illegal aliens in-state tuition status if they graduated from high school in Colorado. It didn't pass.
it's a shame he came out as The Man instead of The Advocate.
I don't believe he really cares about this issue one bit.Colorado patient grower. :rambohead:

I do believe his political aspirations are his entire motivation. I am sure since MMJ is such a hot button topic he feels that having his name on any successful bill would advance his career.
What a shame, as usual our elected officals have their own agenda without concern for the people that placed them in office.

Romer is confused because the wind blows in many directions. I have to wonder where this guy is coming from. I collect anywhere from $3000-$5000 monthly that I pay to the State in sales tax, what is Romer talking about? Cannabis is medicine and should not be subject to a sin tax. The real sin is that we are letting Romer and Massey get away with this attack on us. They are hurrying and fumbling to get anything passed and why do they hurry? Because they know if left alone another year the real statistics will be out, not only the revenue dollars the State and local municipalities are harvesting, but the true statistics on crime, and zoning issues, environmental and community impacts. They know if they wait too long all the "What If" scenarios they are whipping up hysteria about will be proven false.

I couldn't agree more with you guys, is there any possibility Romer will be voted out of office this coming election? I know he has a lot of money backing him, I'm thinking he'll probably get relected but who knows, giving illegal aliens in-state tuition status is pretty disturbing, might just be enough to get him voted out. I sure as hell will not vote for him and I urge everyone in the mmj community to do the same, palerider is right, he's nothing but a puppet.

I sent an email to him on January 5, 2010. He finally responded on February 17, 2010.
His response really did not address my concerns and sounded more like a sales pitch for his proposed bills.
At least he responded...I guess. :wtf:

he talks out of both sides of his mouth.
he'll respond and sound like your best friend, then he'll keep pushing his crap bill through. He thinks patients are criminals, no matter what his wagging tongue causes his mouth to say.Colorado patient grower. :rambohead:

Agreed, that has been my experience after speaking with him a couple of times on these issues. He basically tells you what you want to hear during the conversation then you find a day or two later what he has proposed is completely different from what he had said his position was during that conversation. I thought I could trust him, but he has proven me wrong.
