first grow need help before i have all males

Do males bud?? i thought they did but some guy at work keeps telling me they dont. Does this look like a male its about 4 1/2 weeks old? It has these little things on the top where the leaves grow out that look like pistols. how long does it that for the hair to form? AGGGHH im soo behind on all this shit.!

take a pic of the top of ur plant then i could possibly tell u if its male or not

easy way to tell is
Males = Balls
Females = Hairs

i looked at that plant and couldnt tell. if that plant is still in veg, it might not be showing yet without the aid of a good magnifier, then you have to know what your looking for. males grow balls then flowers, not buds. female buds do not start to form until you put them under a 12/12 light cycle, and even then can take a couple weeks. if your seeing pistals(which i cant see), then it is prolly a girl. give it a little more time.

usually you don't see preflowers until after alternating branching has started and yours have a ways to go it appears...

the female will grow buds from the preflower sites, where the leaves meet the branches. haven't you checked the pics yet? you should...it'll save a lot of questions you should already know. the search engine here and at every cannabis site also works great for these types of questions...

you can smoke males... you can smoke your socks too..... ahhahah.. but smoking females is the way to go... sorry I couldn't resist the smart ass comment...

your plants look healthy... congrats.... be patient...you will know a male.... the "balls" that smokey is refering to will look like little rose buds... those are very bad.. they have pollen inside them... if that pollen gets out it will fertilize your female plants causing them to produce seeds... yuck

your female plants will have white hairs in pairs of two.... keep looking at the nodes.. they will come!!! you should see them very soon.... 1 day to 2 weeks...

but you will be able to tell..... and make sure you get rid of the males and don't disturb the "balls" you don't want that pollen getting into the air...

oh yeah, you can smoke male but if you are going to put the effort into growing a plant to maturity you will regret it not being a female... 10,000,000,000 times more potent : )

hahahah 3 years ago i growed a shitty thing, and it turned out to be a male. but i tought it was a female, and that the balls were buds. but i tought too, why arent they looking like buds? and so i cutted my plant and compacted the balls and stem, and i smoked it. i tasted so gross, but still i smoked it with my friend and we got a lil high hahaha.

and yea man post more pics that are clearly, but if they have pistills its supposed to be a female. but u need em to be on 12 hours of light, and 12 hours of dark(12/12), or they will not flower properly
