It could be anxiety as mentioned above, but you do not mention having anxiety at other times, so I'm not convinced there is enough evidence to strongly suggest it.

It may not be in your head. Cannabis is well known to increase heart rate for a brief period after use, though I don't know why you'd notice the effect only one time, and so strongly at that. I used to smoke an eighth or more per day and never noticed that effect (that I can recall, anyways), but after I quit for ten years and started smoking again I noticed it quite clearly. It might be an effect that is more or less pronounced in different strains, I suppose. When you are not growing your own, and buying street weed, you encounter a number of different strains, and you never really know which is which.

Cannabis is a relatively safe drug, so you might try a much smaller dose next time and see if you encounter the same problem. The only concerns I've ever seen about it were a couple of studies which noted a slightly higher percentage of heart attacks within an hour of smoking in patients with known heart disease.

Nobody on the forums is going to be able to really help you, though. Even if you encountered a highly-qualified doctor here there's not much they can do via the forums. He'd probably just tell you to see a doctor if you are that concerned. You will not get better peace of mind from the forums or talking with friends than you will from having a doctor tell you that you are healthy.

My suggestion would be to see your doctor, describe the elevated pulse and anxiety you experienced, and go from there. They can do blood enzyme tests shortly after such episodes to see if it was a result of a heart attack, etc. They can give you an EEG(?) to make sure that's good, and if they are still concerned or have found nothing, they can give you a stress echo test. There is a lot they can do to ensure that it wasn't serious, or detect if it was.

If you pass all of the tests with flying colors, I'd say you really have nothing to worry about, and that it was probably just the weed or anxiety or something else benign. It's up to you whether you choose to mention the cannabis use of course, but I have good rapport with my doctor and would mention it to him if I were in your position.
