Ready for harvest?
It will be 8 weeks soon. i was wanting to harvest the top half in 4 days and leave the bottom to finish because the buds on the bottom are still white.
but the top half the pistils are almost 50/50 idk i need opinions what do everyone think?
i dont have a microscope but i have a lil magnify glass. it sucks but i can tell the trichromes are cloudy. i guess i just have to go by the pistils.
anyone think i should wait longer to harvest?
and has anyone ever done just half their plant?toxicmel Reviewed by toxicmel on . Ready for harvest? Ready for harvest?
^^Yeah, should still have a few weeks to go. Looks quite sativa dominant. As long as it's still growing, don't chop it.
In the mean time, grab a pocket microscope from radio shack, they're like $10 maybe less.

Ready for harvest?
okay so its agreed 2 more weeks.
but anyone have a clue about chopping just half the plant?
just asking because i cut a bud off and quick dried it for like 2 days and i got high as hell. it was a different kind of high tho. im sure everyone waits the whole period untill the plant dies but thats for a more stoney high right?
just wondering if i should chop in 4 days and get a cerebal high off half the plant and then wait the rest out for the bottom.
i mean this is my first grow. prob my last. id like to get both kinds of highs unless someone disagrees that this isnt true?
oh and about the microscope. the radio shacks around here dont carry that.
and it would take too long to ship it. so im kinda shit outta luck on that one.

oh and might i mention that the plant is 5ft tall and has way more bud at the bottom than the top.
the top is just a cola and the bottom has arms with buds everywhere.
prob 10 nodes of buds. but they didnt form untill after the top formed. so they are goin slower than the top.
i dont have enough lights to fill the bottom untill i chop it in half.
its retarded but i dont plan on growing again so i dont care for it.

I've read about people cutting the top off and letting the bottom "ripen" before, I didn't hear anything bad about it either. So I'd assume it's acceptable.
Most people harvest when the trichomes turn slightly amber, NOT when the plant dies!:wtf: Just watch the "crytals" when they start turning orange,.. It's time to cut that bud.A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

The problem i've always found with double harvesting is that to achieve a desirable smoke you should really be cutting back nutes completely. for at least 10-14 days. This should be included with the overall flowering time found with the genetics. This generally will allow for a significant slowing of growth and more than likely over ripen the flower.
When you harvest that much from the plant and continue to flower it's a good probability that it'll go hermie.
For small closet grows this is a good way to make sure you get the most from the plant as well as get a few female seeds for next time.

definately wait the 2 weeks....they will really start to get dense and when the pistils start turning about 3/4 orange then it will be time to harvest those babies! You can leave the rest in there to continue to flower for another week or so if you like. They look good though....good job!

Ready for harvest?
I took my big cola an a few buds around it that looked big enough to me. The plants other buds are still growing along with the other 3 plants. But it seems like im not getting any real growth lately. I have been thinking about harvesting the tops and some of the bigger buds. Then i thought about trying to re veg the plant. Now i dont have a clue if it will work or not, but one thing for sure is i will have buds:thumbsup:
Just an idea as i need to get ready for spring time. I want my plants at least 4' before i put them out for a bigger yield then last year:thumbsup:
Good luck:rasta:
